It’s a happy day when you pull 106 bales of second cut from one of your hay fields 😊 Swipe through to see what’s involved, including the buzzard snacking on the critters that got run over.
Hoping the weather cooperates for the other fields to be cut also.
We read that goats have empathy so we designed and experiment to test that fact! We lined up with a range of happy to sad faces and watched the goats’ response. They were drawn to the happy faces the most! 😊❤️🐐 #weloveourgoats#schoolgoats#fourthgrade
I’m relearning how to enjoy quiet moments and value them as much as the exciting highs of life. My husband thrives in the calm, quiet simplicity. I thrive in action packed cities with large crowds. I had used alcohol to make his world exciting to me and sometimes he would have a few to dampen the sensory overload in my world. We are trying to reconnect in each other’s interest without alcohol as a crutch between us. Though I was the one who abused it, he too has chosen a life without alcohol. I appreciate his support and look forward to a more authentic joy in our relationship. PS we raise pack goats, this is Vinnie. #noalcohol#sober#sobermarriage#sobriety#soberlove#realjoy#realwork#weloveourgoats
Well our morning went pretty well! Skyla won the intermediate showmanship, so she will come back for the Round Robin tonight. Lee did pretty good in the PeeWee showmanship, not sure what place he got (maybe 3rd) They only gave prizes to the top two. Skyla showed one of the does in the feeder market class and she got 3rd in the class!! Over all a good morning, now waiting for the breeder classes to start!! #ssjls2019#stockshowkids#boergoats#weloveourgoats#skjohnson#lwjohnson
Here’s what I’ve learned about my goats so far. They are creatures of habit who don’t like change. We got chickens today and I shut a gate so the chickens couldn’t get out into the big area for the goats. Well, the goats didn’t like that at all. They were calling all morning for me until I came and opened it . They are also very friendly and love routine. We open the gate in the morning and evenings and they walk right over to the little barn without thinking to run away and go straight to their stall. I’m so happy we got them ❤️ #weloveourgoats#chickens#happygoats#hobbyfarm
Theres so much going on in this picture. But front and center, we have Momma Clarabelle, our herd momma, "playing" with my wife. Clarabelle isnt super social, but she will play around from time to time. She is also the best herd momma you could ask for. I dont think she ever sleeps because she is always on watch, keeping everyone else in line and has to know where everyone is at all times. We are thankful we were able to adopt her as one of our original two from Gentle Giants Draft Horse Rescue. So we also have present in this picture Doodle Bug, the other "OG" (original goat), baby Evie on the bleachers wondering what the heck grandmom is doing, Fat Jenny's butt over eating grain of course and Bert Reynolds the guinea hen 🤣🤣 #tallpinespatch#nigeriandwarfgoats#pygmygoats#goatsofinstagram#weloveourgoats#weloveourguineas#goatsandguineas#farmlife#farmettelife#happygoats#goatsarethebest#goats4life#grateful
Stylin' and Profilin'. 😎 Check out Benny's new Johnson Shield! This apron helps him stop doing two important things: (1) showing how much he digs his sisters and (2) peeing on his face before snuggles.
Johnson Shields also help extend the time that a little buck can stay with his mom and siblings - can also be used with older bucks so they can socialize with the rest of the herd. Offered in XS to XXL you can get a Johnson Shield in five colors. We've chosen road cone orange so we can see that it's still on correctly from across the pasture.
Yep. There's some trivia for you crazy kids today.
When your son texts you a picture of one of your first fresheners on the milk stand ( first fresheners = first-time milkers), and you can't help but shout "Yay!" with pride, you know you're a dairy goat farmer!😆 Because of the craziness of this move, we have not been very diligent in weaning the babies from their mamas. This sweet doe (Our Weeping Willow Misty) as well as all of our other does, still have their babies on them, yet produce all the milk we need for both ourselves AND our herdshare customers! (Misty has twin doelings still nursing from her!)❤️ Weaning starts this week, which obviously means we will be swimming in milk.🥛 This may seem like a weird picture to those of you just interested in our goat milk soaps, but it's because of these healthy, heavy producing dairy goats that we are able to handcraft our amazingly creamy, nutritional goat milk skin care products- and so much more!)🐐 #weepingwillowfarm#dairyshare2019#dairyfarm#dairygoats#ourweepingwillowobers#oberhasli#weloveourgoats

We rescued 5 girl goats today! 🐐
A man at the co op asked me if we wanted some more goats. I asked there story, he said 2 had babies not that long ago, that they we're messing with his roosters and he needed them gone.
We could tell they didn't spend much time with them, the girls we're so skittish. It took awhile to round them up.
They were in a field with about 100 roosters that he had tied up. He called them "game" chickens.
I asked if he fought them, in which he said no. 🤨
We're so grateful to have our new girls to love and care for.
Once we get to know them we'll have them named. I know it won't be long till there comfy.

Wizard our Pygmy goat! 🐐
We rescued him from a situation where he was not being cared for well.
He is a playful goat and communicates to us whenever we walk out the door as he is near the side of our house.
He does rear up at us but not in an aggressive way, just seems that's how he plays.
Spending time with him has gotten him to allow us to pet and scratch on him.
I tell him I love him often while giving treats and petting him.
He is opening up and getting use to us.
Everything takes time and effort.
We are grateful for Wizard. ❤️🐐 #goatrescue#goat#farmanimals#loveyouranimals#theyneedlove#Godscreation#Godsblessings#weloveourgoats#loveisachoice#loveinaction
