Lemon and garlic tuna pasta, ready in just 10 minutes. This dish is so full of flavour and a great way of serving convenient, store cupboard tuna to baby! ⠀⠀⠀⠀
Tip: To speed up the cooking time when making pasta: grab your saucepan and pour in the tenniest amount of water in the bottom and get it on the hob on a high heat. Meanwhile boil the kettle, once boiled the little bit of water in the pan should be simmering, so when you add the boiling water, the whole lot comes back up to a boil much quicker! ⠀⠀⠀⠀
Tag a friend who’s watched pots never boil, and need this handy tip!💕👇🏼 ⠀⠀⠀⠀
• 200g of dried pasta ⠀⠀⠀⠀
• 1 teaspoon of garlic infused olive oil ⠀⠀⠀⠀
• 2 spring onions ⠀⠀⠀⠀
• 3 cloves of garlic, minced ⠀⠀⠀⠀
• 1 unwaxed lemon ⠀⠀⠀⠀
• Tin of tuna in spring water 145g ⠀⠀⠀⠀
• Black pepper ⠀⠀⠀⠀
• Small knob of butter ⠀⠀⠀⠀
• 40g of grated cheddar cheese ⠀⠀⠀⠀
1) Get your pasta on to boil. ⠀⠀⠀⠀
2) Mince the garlic, finely slice the spring onion, zest the lemon, and grate the cheese and set aside. ⠀⠀⠀⠀
3) 5 minutes into the pasta cooking, heat the garlic oil then sauté the minced garlic and spring onions. Before the garlic starts to catch, add the tuna (water and all) and stir. Add the lemon zest and the juice too along with the knob of butter and freshly ground black pepper. Add a ladle of the pasta cooking water and let it all simmer. ⠀
4) Once the butter has melted, add the cheese, stir then add the cooked pasta. One final stir and serve. ⠀⠀⠀⠀
⏰ 10 minutes ⠀⠀⠀⠀
👶🏼 Suitable from 6 months ⠀⠀⠀⠀
❄️ Will keep in the fridge for a couple of days. To reheat, place in an oven dish with a splash of water and more cheese on-top, and bake till crispy. ⠀⠀⠀⠀
Served on our brand new gorgeous unicorn plate! Nina loves it, thank you @bamboo_bamboo.uk ( #gifted) ⠀⠀⠀⠀
🍌 BANANA PORRIDGE 🍌
Today the boys had their first proper breakfast, Banana Porridge and it’s safe to say the absolutely loved it! The thought of weaning has made me feel a bit anxious as we are so efficient at bottle feeding but the boys are almost 6 months so today i thought I’d see how they got on and they are 100% READY! So our weaning journey begins ...🍌
All this week, @sr_nutrition and I have talked about what to expect during baby’s first weeks of starting solids. I just recently shared his meals from the 1st week (scroll down just a lil and look for the 4 bear plates) so thought I’d share the ones from our 2nd week
🤪The 1st week was basically me putting food in his hand in an effort to grab his attention (some will say to not do this, but I followed my heart) and seeing them get crushed, banged, or thrown
It’s also advised that you serve just small amounts of food at a time to not overwhelm the baby. That’s what I did during the 1st week, but I wanted to see how he’d handle meals like these. And clearly, my eyes were bigger than his tummy 😅
He didn’t appear to be intimidated by his plates. He actually did better! Just goes to show - don’t be afraid to experiment! 💥
When I gave him 1-2 pieces of food at a time, he pretty much tossed it immediately. You can see in the pics that he just went in with his hands and had a grand ole’ time exploring and getting messy. While he still didn’t eat much of anything during this week, he did start to do some tasting, which was such a relief
❤️It may look like sensory play to us but make no mistake. Learning and progress is being made with EACH and EVERY exposure!
At this time, we were continuing to nurse about 45 minutes prior to his one meal of the day. We started out with lunch bc that’s when we were most relaxed and able to be home for a large chunk of time. We sat at the table for anywhere from 20-45 minutes
Here’s what I focused on offering at every meal:
If you’ve decided to start with purees, head on over to @sr_nutrition’s feed to see examples of what she offered her baby!
❓How long does mealtime(s) last for you?
👶🏼🥦Raffy’s first couple of weeks of weaning!🥑👶🏼
👏🏼Carrying on with the theme @kidfriendly.meals & I have been discussing this week, I’m showing you Raffy’s journey over his very first couple of weeks of weaning.
🥄I decided to start with purées initially, just as a gradual transition to solids & to help to easily expose Raffy to a variety of flavours over the first week or so.
🥕I then started to bring in finger foods after around 2 weeks of weaning & gradually built mine & Raffy’s confidence around having these
👀 @kidfriendly.meals went straight in with the finger foods, so check out her post if you’re interested in #blw
🥬I also decided to start with veggies - savoury & bitter options to help his palate adjust & to familiarise him with some totally different flavours to anything he’d had before (breastmilk is sweet)
📸I didn’t take photos/videos every day, but these demonstrate the rough journey that we had with Raffy’s first tastes of food
🤪You can see his reactions are different each time - it really depends on what they feel like that day - so please don’t be disheartened if your little one doesn’t take to all the foods you’re offering right away.
🍛Once you start to explore combinations & offer more of a variety, you might see their interest begin to take off more.
🍽After a short period of single tastes, it’s all about exploring variety, so I started to offer combinations, brought in some of the allergens as well as iron rich foods & finger foods, soon after his first single tastes of veggies - lots about this on my blog!
👶🏼Raffy’s first foods, as seen above, include:
🥕Mixing tastes - carrot & broccoli
🖐🏼And finally some finger foods!
➡️(Not necessarily in this exact order, but this was over the first 2 weeks of weaning)
🥔It’s super important to remember that the single veg is a short time only, thereafter variety is incredibly important alongside continuing to offer lots of savoury veggies too!

Cinta seringkali membuat kita lalai. Cinta acapkali menggoyahkan hati.
Sesuai pedoman-Nya dalam Al Qur'an.

omg. First, you have no idea how much relief I feel right now. I feel normal other than being tired from crying this morning. I found a $28 hand pump and pumped just a bit so I don’t end up over producing.
Secondly, my milk is green apparently. It startled me at first but when I googled it, just means that I’ve been eating a lot of green foods so that’s actually a good thing.
Third, you might be thinking, shouldn’t I know how to handle this breastfeeding thing by now? I’m 41, nursed a set of twins and a singleton plus it’s not like Bleys is a newborn. Part of the issue is that Bleys nurses a lot. I nurse him on demand. And with my other kids, they just sort of stopped nursing on their own so it was very gradual. The emotional 😭 part was not overwhelming like trying to halt/stop breastfeeding cold turkey. It can be incredibly painful to stop nursing without tapering off. I have not slept well these past two nights because of being in extreme discomfort and pain as well. Now that I have some relief, I can finally enjoy my time here. Bleys comes tomorrow evening and I’m pretty sure we will both be out of our minds happy. #breastfeeding#weaningbaby#weaning#weaningjourney#emotional#handpumped#breastmilk#bottledmilk
@donnatulloch inspired tea tonight. I threw some sweetcorn in a quickly made, last minute macaroni cheese (typically the best one I’ve made in a long time!) Frankie clearly loves his first try of macaroni, he has demolished this plus more. Billy on the other hand... macaroni is his favourite. Spat every mouthful out that had a bit of sweetcorn in it😣 #toddlerlife#babyledweaning#weaning#teatime #
I always try to have something prepped or leftover for when we’re in a rush, speed is key with a toddler right!?! Today there was some plain cooked pasta already in the fridge. I put a spoonful of chopped tomatoes in a pan with a splash of water, greek yoghurt, finely chopped broccoli and paprika. Stirred the pasta in and this was ready in about 3 minutes 👌🏼 #simple#weaning
Rosalie’s not been 100% for a few days and completely refused lunch! Seems to have perked up this evening though as she liked dinner! Great news given she’s one today!! She’s such a trooper and made sure to enjoy her birthday pressie, a @my_muro board! #onetoday#weaning#dinnerideas

Edie is 7 months old and we’re 1 month into our weaning journey. HOW did that happen?!
I’m enjoying watching her grow and seeing all of the amazing things she does every day but I’m also sad that my second and last baby is growing up so fast. I guess most people feel like that? With Myla I hoped I’d have another baby one day but this time it’s all so final. The last time of everything. It makes my heart hurt a little bit 😞
We’ve recently both made the decision that our breast feeding journey is coming to an end. It’s not working for either of us any more and if I’m totally honest I’m a bit relieved as I’ve gotten to the stage where I’m not enjoying it anymore (am I allowed to say that?!) She’s still having a little bit here and there but we have introduced formula too as well as her solid food. Apart from some explosive nappies it’s going pretty well so far. It works for us and we’re both happy. That’s what’s important.
To some we’re a bit late to the weaning party but I’m not really too hung up on milestones / timelines as if I learned anything with Myla it’s that no two babies are the same. Ultimately you know what is right for your baby and Edie just is wasn’t ready before 6.5 months so I didn’t push it at the risk of stressing us both out.
She honestly can’t get enough now. She wants to eat everything! But oh the mess! I forgot about the mess! Makes some pretty hilarious photos though. Weaning faces are the best 😆 #weaning#babyledweaning#7monthsold#mummydiary#mumoftwo#mumoftwogirls#honestparenting#mumsofinsta#mumofgirls

As your baby approaches 6 months old you will no doubt be starting to think about when and how you are going to introduce solids into their diet. All children develop at different rates and so how do you know when they are ready to start weaning?
⭐️ Your baby is able to sit up straight with support and can hold up their own head.
⭐️ Taking a strong interest in food. Starting to reach out for your food or trying to put nearby food into their mouth.
⭐️ Being able to coordinate their eyes, hands and mouth.
⭐️ Seeming increasingly hungry, even after a full milk feed. This may also cause increased night wakings in children who normally sleep well (Note: this could also be caused by may other reasons such as development leaps, therefore should be used together with other weaning signs)

Roll-ups are a firm favourite in this house. They’re…
-> Quick -> Easy to make in advance -> Easy to hold and eat -> Freezable -> Adaptable
This was no exception, we made a batch that could be stored in the freezer to use for a quick #blwmeal in the future and they went down really well on the day. I think the size and shape of them just make it a really satisfying hold for him as he always jumps in grabs them and enjoys slowly munching away at them! He also really seemed to enjoy this cool piri piri sauce - next time I’ll try the more traditional version with chili peppers to see how he gets on!! 😉
He ate everything on this plate, although I did chop the #tomatoes down a little more for him as they kept popping out his mouth! For those who want to do some #batchcooking, we put them in the freezer before frying and then cook straight from frozen.
Happy #weaning everyone
Made 8 roll-ups
• 1 red pepper
• Handful of coriander
• ½ tsp of red wine vinegar
• 8 pieces of white bread
1) Roast the pepper in the oven whole (seeds and stalk removed) in the oven at 175°C for about 25 mins.
2) Once the skin has blackened remove and pop into a blender with the coriander and red wine vinegar and blend to a smooth paste.
3) Remove the crusts from the bread and roll very flat with a rolling pin. Then spoon the piri piri filling into the middle of the bread and roll up into a Swiss roll.
4) Then briefly fry with a little unsalted butter until brown all over.
On the menu for breakfast today: cheesy fried eggs! My #lilweanie absolutely loved it! This has been something I've been experimenting with the last two weeks because we are in a bit of a food revolt at home!
These are easy to make, very filling and a perfect breakfast to share with your lil weanie!
How I made it: ➡️ Melt fat in a pan (we used bacon fat, but butter or oil works, too!)
➡️ Crack 4 eggs right into the pan and start cooking them like you want them sunny side up
➡️ When the whites start to set and actually turn white, sprinkle the eggs with your cheese of choice (we used cheddar) ➡️ Cover and let the cheese melt/eggs cook
➡️ Cook to your liking! I like my eggs extra done for I like to flip them and go over medium or over hard.
➡️ Serve and enjoy!! Enjoy! 🍳🍽
What is more important than some delicious yummy food for dinner? 😋😋
