EVERYONE makes mistakes. It’s what you do afterwards that matters. The first step is admitting the mistake. Learn from it, evaluate what you should have done differently, set a goal then DO better next time and success will be inevitable.
To develop the trust on all sides that is needed for the investment in the delicate, difficult and transformative process of developing a dancer, there must be uncompromising integrity. Honesty, loyalty and mutual respect from teachers, students and family. #whoarewewednesday
Every child is a beautiful flower bud just waiting to explode into bloom. They just need some nurturing to open up and reach their full potential. Otherwise they will wither before they have a chance to shine.
Thanks @eastcityart for the great review! Check out Timber this weekend and join us for a Curator’s Tour tomorrow at 1 pm in English. Únate a nosotros mañana para un recorrido de arte a las 2 pm en Español.
Calling all ballet contemporary and jazz dancers...we are a supportive, collaborative group of dancers who are committed to learning from and raising each other up while creating thoughtful and humorous works to entertain and provoke positive change.
Tell us in the comments what you wish a dance teacher had said you that would have made all the difference...
We want to instill a lifelong passion for the art of dance. We believe the best way to do that is to have FUN and laugh while working hard. We believe love and laughter can cure all ills. Our nation is in an epidemic of depression, anxiety and other mood disorders. Studies show that exercise and laughter help combat these and we are dedicated to supporting our students and their families by lifting them up not tearing them down.
Organizations Making A Change: @bcgsguitar
The grants go toward our mission of fostering the awareness and appreciation of the classical guitar through either our international concert series or through our many educational programs, such as “Guitars for Change”, “Open Stage” which is place where anyone can come and perform in front of an appreciative audience, “BCGS Certificate” program which is designed to cultivate and promote classical guitar education and educators in the Maryland area, “BCGS Commissions” which is dedicated to helping young area composers write for the instrument, our “Artist-in-Residence” who last year visited over 500 children in schools and lectures and demonstrations and master classes. #thisismdarts#artorganizations#kidswithguitars#baltimoreclassicalhuitarsociety#classicalguitar#musiceducation#mdarts#mdartseducation

We experimented with making words into movement. I love it. #adultmoderndance Thursday’s @7.00pm
I LOVE MY ADULT STUDENTS!
I have always loved teaching dance to kids. Their fearlessness, honesty, affection, creativity, humor and intelligence is a constant source of inspiration, love and laughter.
But in recent years, as our adult dance family has grown, I have gotten an ever increasing joy and satisfaction from working with adults. I am always inspired by not only the wonderful regulars that show up week after week or the total beginners who are brave enough to take on a new challenge and stick with it when it is hard (really hard) but also the former dancers who come back after a long break.
I am always in awe of the dancers that overcome that intimidation factor (which is huge even for me to this day) of coming back to a new studio with a bunch of strangers. That takes some serious guts and I respect each and every person who walks through the door each week just for showing up. Because that is really what life is all about. Showing up and putting yourself out there for what you want despite your fears of what others might think. And I love that. That is why I love working with my adult students so much. I believe it is never too late to go for what you want. You just have to be willing to work for it even when it's tough. #thoughtfulthursday
Love is our number one value because it encompasses so much. It is our love and passion for dance, children, teaching, family, community. It is being kind and helpful, serving our community. Using positive critiques and encouragement to help our students achieve their goals.

Come dance with us!
It’s #techniquetiptuesday and we are working on tendu. Believe it or not, articulating the foot through demi-pointe is super important even for the beginner. It is the basis of everything you do in dance from jumps to turns, leaps and more. So work those feet!
