Day 16 of @thehotroomyoga#asanaplaybook
Just a few hours apart. Could and could not. My foot could barely leave the ground in the 2nd pic. Nick thought I was messing with him, because I would do something crazy like that for 30 minutes 😂, but it was like my foot was a magnet to the earth. 🤷🏼♀️ Fear? Yup. Doubt? Yup. Yup.
Not feeling capable physically? Um yup.
Spoiler alert...none of these things ⬆️ were just about this pose.
That’s how it works, shit comes up and then you’re aware of it and you can move to fight through it, for yourself instead of against yourself.
Our bodies are different every day, sometimes every hour. Accept it and move on try again tomorrow.
Easier said than done. But try.
The work, the challenges, the literal tears on the ground in your backyard by the fire saying “what if I can’t do this?!???” But what if you can?
It’s never just about the poses.
Day 16 #asanaplaybook: Balancing stick. One of my favorites 💚💚 Gives is a little heart attack in the room so you don’t have the real one outside.
Posing with some awesome members of #teamhotroom post-Pilates today.
Day 12: #asanaplaybook is my version of reality vs. Instagram. Self-timer and dog tails (or whole bodies) are my struggle here 😂
Crescent lunge prayer twist
I remember vividly the first time I was instructed into this posture thinking....ok, so vinyasa is hard. Shout out to #teamhotroom for doing the hard stuff.
Day 13: Throwing it way back to October 2016 for this #asanaplaybook pose- Triangle.
This posture means a lot to me - strength & self acceptance. This particular day, after class I asked a teammate to take a photo of me in this posture because I wanted to remember this day forever.
Certainly some corrections I would make three years later but that day it was perfect. #teamhotroom
Friday night triangle from our 6p Original Hot Yoga class tonight. These students inspire me so much with their dedication to working their body inside and out from the fingertips to the toes to start their weekend strong (and to be strong and focused to be able to outrun zombies and werewolves from tonight's full moon and Friday the 13th.)
It's also day 13 of our #asanaplaybook our studio's online challenge allowing you to deepen your practice from home 15 minutes a day. I always feel so strong in this pose. Happy Friday to all my #teamhotroom friends!
Day 11: Cobra pose - I have been looking forward to this day for #asanaplaybook to show a little before & after.
For the first 5 years of my practice, this pose was picture #1. Then, I heard an instructor say “don’t just contract your tail...ENGAGE your tail.” BAM 💥 picture #2.
This practice is FOR LIFE because one day you may hear something that changes everything. More compression, more opening, more backside strength, and more confidence. Confidence? Yep. Anything that makes you stretch crown of your head up and bring chest forward triggers confidence in body and mind. Thanks #teamhotroom for keeping me accountable to my practice.
Day #9 & Day #10 recap! Bound locust followed by side forearm plank.
Something I have learned being in North Shore ... you only need like 3 outfits in your wardrobe. Soo...this #asanaplaybook is powered by select #teamhotroom gear. This gear, not surprisingly, makes me feel stronger in each posture.
#asanaplaybook Day 9: Bound Locust feat. Daphne the Doodle. 😂For the longest time, I would hold my breath in this posture in order to get “higher” in the air. One day I heard an instructor specifically list that as something you shouldn’t be doing and it’s been a conscious correction ever since. I love how this posture opens up front body muscles and strengthens back muscles after sitting at a desk for 9 hours. So good! #teamhotroom
Day 8: extended side angle #asanaplaybookbook - So much relief in this posture. Strength and ease at its finest. My favorite thing about this picture though is the the work TEAM printed across my back. Not just any team, but #teamhotroom 🔥
If this spine twist is an aura shot, it makes total sense. THIS is when I feel the overwhelming feeling of authenticity. It’s a reflection of how I choose to spend my time, how hard I work for my best life, and a gentle gaze at the others doing it alongside of me...one of the few times your eyes leave your own gaze in the mirror. I get a peek at #teamhotroom in this posture and I smile. #asanaplaybook
Day 7 of the #asanaplaybook : Spine Twist. Getting into this posture without a mirror to check my alignment was more challenging than I thought. Especially when the photographer is holding the leash of a puppy afraid of bicycles. Lol. #teamhotroom
Day 6: It doesn’t have to be a cute dog to be a happy dog.
Tight shoulders/chest make this one of my least favorite postures. Which I find funny because I think this is the pose most people think of when you say yoga...soo...do I even like yoga 🤯😰🤣 Pro tip: don’t let your belly fall out. Easy to do but knit the ribs together and expand through your mid back. 💥
#asanaplaybook got me doing things I don’t love but I NEED! All for #teamhotroom.
Day 6 of the #asanaplaybook : Downward Facing Dog. Before I started practicing yoga, I never understood why this was a yoga posture. After a few vinyasa classes, I got it. It brings the heart rate down and allows you to reset and let go. #teamhotroom@thehotroomyoga
