HAPPY HAPY FRIDAY!!!! •
This is what you’d call an “ⒶⓌⓀⓌⒶⓇⒹ” run this morning. Here’s why:
1🅂🅃- I went to take this picture (about mile 4). I propped my phone on a ledge by a bathroom on the golf course. I set the timer and just as it was about to go off, a lady walked out of the bathroom and looked at me like “what in the world are you doing out here.” I got nervous and grabbed my phone and said I was thirsty and just grabbing a drink from the cooler ☺️. One of these days I just need to own it 😂.
🅃🄷🄴🄽- I had an incident with butt (well back) dialing people! I had my phone in my koala clip in the back of my sports bra, but the bra was weird and didn’t have much material for it to hold onto, so the phone kept sliding. I was listening to a podcast and then all of a sudden I was dialing someone and they were saying “hello.” I had to wrangle around forever to try and get my phone loose to hang up. I have no idea who’s number it was- it looked random 🤦♀️.
🄵🄸🄽🄰🄻🄻🅈- I was playing chicken with a car coming at me. There was no one else around and the car wouldn’t move over. I was barely on the shoulder (as far as I could get without being on the rocks) and it just kept coming at me. Finally I jumped off onto the rocks. I don’t think the point I was trying to prove (that cars should get over for runners) was getting through to the old lady who probably didn’t even see me. 💁🏼♀️
SO, yah- quite the awkward moments. •
Ate all the chocolate strawberries (like 10 😱) already tonight for fuel on my long run tomorrow (really because I’m celebrating making it to the weekend!), hope I won’t be regretting that 😂.
So today’s run went a lot better. 7 miles of good trail running. I overshot the distance. I just made the best guess with my Fitbit. At what I thought was mile 5 I was wondering why I was so worn out lol. One mile warm up never hurt. Physically and mentally I felt so much better than I did on my last few runs. This is mainly due to switching up my routes and eating more carbs. I get tired of the same thing pretty quickly 🤷🏻♀️
I’ve decided to make a diet change too. I gained a lot of weight a few months ago and I started running to help with weight loss. I never met my “goal” weight and it’s been really frustrating. I’m 5’2 and when I was at 120 running was easier, faster and less painful on my knees. I am between 127-130 depending on the day. I am still wanting to get back to that weight and lean out. I’m finding out my body has a mind of its own. I’m not going to give up. It’s just taking longer than I expected 🤘🏼
In this weight loss journey I discovered that I do like trail running. I’m excited to see where this journey takes me. •
Have a great weekend and a great long run🌈
Created to encourage healthy living and promote its benefits, Vanke's Run for Fun is a non-competitive outing that brings together students, corporations and communities for one big run. Since its establishment in 2003, the run has since become a massive event that draws in many people from all walks of life.⠀ ⠀
What’s holding you back from reaching your goal? .
In running and in life, we all have goals that we’re trying to achieve. However, there’s always boulders and barriers in the way of those goals that we have to overcome and knock down. .
If you haven’t reached your goal yet, that’s perfectly fine. As long as you’re making strides in the right direction. If you’re stuck, here are some next steps that I think are helpful. .
1️⃣Take an audit of your goals and review why you haven’t hit them yet or where you are in the process. It’s really important to gauge your performance to make sure you’re trending in the right direction.
2️⃣Diagnose the pain point to successfully move forward. With running being the example, maybe you’re not logging enough miles, not giving yourself enough recovery time/sleep, your nutrition plan is off, etc.
3️⃣ Create a plan on how to address the pain point and execute.
4️⃣Continue to monitor and check up on yourself to ensure you’re heading in the right direction. .
If we want to be better runners and athletes, we can’t just say it or act like it. We have to actually put in the work and effort. ⚡️
