A slightly different take on the same scene from a couple of posts ago- but with a world of difference! I think this one is the much stronger image, and here’s why. It lures us in and produces in us the desire to be a part of the special thing that is taking place while, at the same time, gives us the understanding that if we WERE to be a part of it that the moment might be spoiled. It is warm and inviting on the one hand but, on the other, it is only teasing us. The obscuring plants and shrubs and the slightly off-kilter angle all signal that we are (and must remain) outsiders and spectators. Thus, the image retains its intimacy, warmth, dignity, and privacy while keeping us just out of reach- and is only able to do so precisely BECAUSE it keeps us just out of reach.⠀

🇬🇧 I need to experience things myself even when others tell you they’ve been there before you. 🇮🇹 Per quanto gli altri dicano di aver visto prima di me, ho sempre bisogno di vedere con i miei occhi.
