Low Frequency 137 - Zachary Lubin
Zachary Lubin is a Chicago based DJ. He has been DJing and producing electronic music for nearly thirty years. Zachary's DJ sets and productions span a wide variety of styles- from techno and electro to house and soul/disco. He is not only influenced by great teachers and influencers in the music scene, but other major influences include art, architecture, industry, science-fiction films, and urban decay.
Zachary Lubin also runs his own label Obvio Records. The label was founded in 1982 as a reggae label by his father. Obvio is now a channel for eclectic electronic musical experiments focusing on concepts and innovation. Aside from his own material on Obvio, Zachary has released on Jeff Mills' sub-label of Axis Records 6277, Modularz, Kimochi, Nighttripper, UntilMyHeartStops, and Liebe Detail, among others.
I think we can say Zachary Lubin is a very busy man. So I am more than thrilled he found the time to create an exclusive set for us.
Tracks are from Gas, Steve Bicknell, Joey Beltram, Autechre, Raoul Delgardo, Roman Poncet & DJ Deep, Jay Denham, Diego, Frank Hunter, Johannes Heil, The Advent, Chris McCormack, Speedy J, Heiko Laux, Marco Carola & Adam Beyer, Surgeon, I Hate Models, and Sinoia Caves
I'm pretty sure that all of our record collections have something in common, even though we don't own the exact same records: it's all about a musician called Chris Spedding. This session guitarist appears on records by artists diverse as Elton John, Brian Eno, Harry Nilsson, John Cale and Mickey Jupp. He also released some not so popular solo albums and "Hurt" is his fifth record which is a bit harder rocking LP. Don't miss out on this Rock & Roll-Pearl!
