At Ritmo Mundo, we are mindful that our path to today is a result of so many blessings of individuals.
The zenith of our fortunes was our friendship with the late Jerry Weintraub. Four years ago to date, Jerry Weintraub passed.
Jerry was a uber force in not only the competitive world of entertainment, but a force majeur in every field he laid his eyes upon. Not many know, but his father was in the jewellery and diamond business. He was keenly aware of our sphere and often advised me us on how to proceed.
His legacy and kindness shall shine for generations in Hollywood. From working with Sinatra, Elvis, to relaunching the Ocean’s series with Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Matt Damon and so many others, Jerry was a creator of opportunities of success for everyone under his sphere. We are thankful for his friendship and his memories.
I have two wonderful memories. He called me once to come to his house during the filming of Oceans. When I arrived to his residence, he asked me to come upstairs, and as I was walking along, he said “Brad, say hello to my friend, Ali” - looking into the hallway I realized it was Brad Pitt and I was somewhat in awe Jerry didn’t say Ali that’s Brad, but rather Brad this is Ali. The point has not been lost on me.
Second, on another occasion, I recall him showing me letters from the CEO of a Swiss Watch conglomerate who offered him in excess of $2,000,000 to have his watches featured in his Ocean’s 12 & 13 series - Jerry was proud to say, “when I give me word to you Ali, I give my word - Ritmo Mundo is working with us". We are indebted to him and his family for his heart and charity. Your infectious smile and yet commanding voice will remain in our hearts today and everyday. Thank you JW.
