Det vil sige, at vi accepterer det, vi oplever, når vi er fuldt til stede. Mindfulnesstræning styrker evnen til at være nærværende og accepterende over for os selv og andre og til at rumme de følelser, der viser sig. . “Mindfulness is the willingness and capacity to be equally present with all events and experiences with discernment, curiosity and kindness.” - Christina Feldman. . Via mindfulnesspraksis lærer vi at skrue lidt ned for den indre kommentator, så vi bliver lidt mere herre i eget hus i stedet for at lade os lede af ’popcorn-hjernen’, der bare kører på automatik. Der sker noget helt særligt, når vi tillader os selv at være stille og uden distraktioner fra relationer, opgaver og telefoner. Det er en unik mulighed for at lytte dybt ind i sindet - til det, der allerede befinder sig der, men som er formørket af alt det, du omgiver dig med hjemme i hverdagen. På retreatet har du mulighed for at opleve to hele dage i stilhed fjernt fra byens stress og larm, men sammen med andre mennesker. - og i de skønneste omgivelser. Vi ankommer torsdag og bruger eftermiddagen og aftenen på at lande i skoven og i kroppen, og så træder vi ind i stilhed, når vi går til ro. Fredag og lørdag vil vi bruge på skiftende siddende og gående mindfulnessmeditationer, en længere silent walk i den smukke skov, kropsscanninger og blid yoga. Vi bryder nænsomt stilheden søndag formiddag, så vi kan spise frokost og afslutte - mens vi taler sammen. Stilheden og retreatets program giver os rum og plads til det, der naturligt viser sig, når vi stopper op og prioriterer væren frem for gøren og fokus frem for distraktion. APPROACHING LIFE WITH BEGINNER'S MIND, wouldn't be nice if we could look and experience things like children do? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ A lot of our troubles could be solved by it. A lot of joy could be found with it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And it is simple: practice seeing life with a beginner’s mind. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ What is beginner’s mind? It’s dropping our expectations and preconceived ideas about something, and seeing things with an open mind, fresh eyes, just like a beginner. If you’ve ever learned something new, you can remember what that’s like: you’re probably confused, because you don’t know how to do whatever you’re learning, but you’re also looking at everything as if it’s brand new, perhaps with curiosity and wonder. That’s beginner’s mind. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ the practice of beginner’s mind can transform any activity, get rid of a lot of our difficulties, allow us to be more flexible, open, curious, grateful, present. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’m not saying all of this happens automagically. It’s not so much about ridding life of all our pain and discomfort, as it is learning and using the tools to help us to feel through it. ⁣ ⁣ Yesterday I had some old wounds come up in the form of overwhelming anxiety and heavy darkness. After noticing the experiences these feelings were connected to, I asked my body “what do you need?” ⁣ ⁣ First, it was food and water. I hadn’t eaten all day. ⁣ ⁣ I ate and sat with my body again, feeling into the constriction. “I’m here. I’m listening. What do you need?” A nap. I had been out with friends the night before and hadn’t gotten a lot of sleep. I climbed in bed and was completely knocked out for a solid 3 hours. 😂⁣ ⁣ Waking up, the heaviness was still there but the anxiety had lessened. “Alright little girl, what do you need?” ⁣ ⁣ “I need you to feel through this pain.” ⁣ ⁣ Perhaps having the courage to sit with pain is the hardest part of all. It takes courage to give ourselves permission to FEEL into discomfort. This allows stagnant energy to be released. ⁣ ⁣ I grabbed my drum, hopped in the car and drove up the mountain. I sat on the ground and prayed and cried. I felt grateful that the pain was present. As difficult as it was, I knew that these things were ready to be felt and healed.⁣ ⁣ Anger burned through me as I pounded my drum. I stood under the moonlit sky and I let myself feel rage. Each beat sent a current through my body. Layer by layer, it broke up the stagnant energy and I felt flow again as the wind swept around me. It was powerful and freeing to be present with my emotions. ⁣ ⁣ Everything wasn’t “fine and dandy” after that process, but I felt significantly different. A release had taken place and I began to lean into stillness. I could tell I had just worked through some years of wounds. ⁣ ⁣ Our body and spirit know what we need. Emotions are messages that help us understand our experience more clearly. Pain comes up when it’s ready to move through us.⁣ ⁣ You are a beautiful being of light. You have the tools and answers you need to become anything you want. ⁣ ⁣ Remember that you are held, loved, and supported. ⁣ Drums by @sacred_fire_drums

I can't wait to go back to Spain. I'm even more excited that in a few short months I will get to go with some amazing people as we focus on the five tenets of health: food, self care, movement, community, and spirituality. If you know me, you can probably guess why the first tenet of health that I listed is food 😂 I am not someone who believes in deprivation, but do believe in making smart informed choices that will help you achieve long term success! Because of that, on this trip we are going to explore the land, experience Spanish culture, taste the food and even meet the people behind the food. This is not just another tourist trip! I have been working with locals to make this a one of a kind experience. One day, which I'm particularly excited about, we will have the opportunity to see a local fish market followed by a boat ride where we will do a cooking class - yup, we will be cooking on the boat! I don't know about you, but I am more likely to try something new when I'm in a different situation when I'm with different people.
