Talked about couples who have big differences in socioeconomic backgrounds like the couples in @marrying_millions with @ajrobach on @goodmorningamerica.
Some of the tips I gave are for all couples, regardless of how big a difference there is in finances.
How to avoid relationship money conflicts. • Couples need to work together to come up with system of handling finances and decision making that they can both agree on. • It is important to have neutral people who can help a couple when they have conflicts around money. Ideally, one person would help with the emotional conflict involved like a therapist or a religious counselor. Couples benefit from having a business manager, accountant or financial advisor to help with the actual financial decisions.
• Couples should talk about expectations in advance. What do they expect their lifestyle to look like? Who will pay for what? What kind of gifts do they expect from one another and how often?
• Early on couples have to learn how to negotiate in respectful way regardless of who has money. This takes practice. It can be particularly difficult because we all get triggered around money.
We did some research into #MarryingMillions couple Rosie and Drew to see if we could solve the HUGE mystery of how they actually met. Was it on a #sugardaddy or #sugarbaby website like everyone thinks? Unfortunately, we couldn't get a definitive answer, but head over to Starcasm.net (article link in our stories) for all the clues we were able to dig up! 💰🤷🏻♂️💃🏻❓
