I love this ✨ our family has come a long way!

A few days ago I had the privilege of visiting my dad’s gravesite. Initially I didn’t want to go — it’s a long way from where I live, I had to take off of work to get there, it’s 100 degrees outside — you get the picture. But what I took for granted was how amazing it would be to see Escobares, a town so small it didn’t register on my GPS, through the lens of today’s politics. The Ramón family now stretches from Boston, DC, Chicago, and of course San Antonio, but it used to be just a few orphaned kids living on the border. With so much turmoil amidst the border detention centers nowadays, I was forced to stop and think what would have become of my family if we weren’t able to peacefully live in America and prosper from all of its opportunities. I don’t know exactly how my dad broke through, but being part of his legacy is one of my greatest joys. Let’s all encourage one another to remember that we are lucky to have already broken through — now it’s our turn to hold the door open for the next generation. #closethecamps
Dear Little Children,
This land is your land. It’s yours if you are a brown skinned little girl or boy. If you have blonde pigtails or black waves. If you pray to Jesus or Buddha or Allah or a greater power or just believe really hard in the goodness of humanity. It’s yours if you have a mommy and a daddy, two mommies or two daddies, live with grandparents, or are waiting for a forever home. This land is yours. It’s yours no matter how big your house is—or if you have a home at all—what kind of car your parents drive, how big your parents’ paycheck is. Whether you are brand new here or can trace your family back for generations. Go to school every day and work hard. Go to the library and read your heart out. When you are old enough, register to vote and actively engage in government whenever possible. Let all the world know this land is yours, and you intend for it to be a land of hope and love. You belong here. You are worthy. You can do great things. I am pulling for you, and I can’t wait to see the beauty and transformation you can bring to the world.
Who has supported or inspired you this last week?
Every Tuesday I am going to give a special Tuesday award for an account who has inspired me or supported me the previous week. .
My first award has to go to my @heart_ofdust .
She is a huge support to me both personally & on insta. She listens to me, checks up on me every day & even avoids “shit music” on her daily heart of dance when she is posting a song for me. .
Insta friends really can become real life friends.
Write on the comments who has inspired or supported you & why you award them.
Love. Patience. Understanding. Humility. Forgiveness. Grace.
How often are you giving yourself the love patience, understanding, humility and grace you give others?
This ☝️ can be a hard one to not only give yourself but to others as well.
I know this from experience. I still struggle with it somedays.
My journey and passion for helping women RISE hasn't always been so.
My passion for Health & Wellness hasn't always been so.
I have hurt myself.
I have hurt others.
I have hurt relationships.
I have made bad choices.
I still make bad choices sometimes.
I still react or judge inappropriately sometimes .
Does that mean I am a bad person? No.
Does that mean I am not worthy of all good things? No.
Does that define me? No.
It contributes to my growth and it helps me to try harder to do better.
My stumbles have also taught me not to judge someone because of their bad choices (I still struggle with that sometimes too). I don't know what they were going through that led them to that decision.
Have you walked every mile in their shoes allowing you to say you would do it differently?
You see, we are blessed with the ability to choose.
Those choices are for us as individuals to live with, not for others to judge.
We are all equal.
If we can approach our fellow brothers and sisters with a more open mind, open heart and open arms, we can all rise together.
We can change the world!
Support those in need in their darkest of days.
Be their beacon of light, hope and strength for one day they may be needed to offer the same on someone else's journey.
Live with love, patience, understanding, humility, forgiveness and grace.
As Tupac Shakur so brilliantly said,
"We gotta make a change
It's time for us as a people to start makin' some changes.
Let's change the way we eat, let's change the way we live
And let's change the way we treat each other." I am praying for humanity and this Earth tonight.
Let's RISE as one friends ❤
