Pre-biotics cannot be broken down by digestive enzymes, so they make their way to the gut where the good bacteria can consume them. Pre-biotics are especially robust in raw asparagus, garlic, leeks, onions, green bananas, kale, dandelion greens + jicama.⠀

five years ago i was deadly afraid of rice. RICE. and then once i worked on that fear a bit, i allowed myself to eat brown rice because it’s “healthy” but NO WHITE RICE. society told me it was unhealthy and would wreck havoc on my body. wtf? this past week i’ve eaten hearty white rice at LEAST once a day because i’m vibing hard with it right now. recovery and healing are pretty damn cool, no? and in this case...insanely delicious too. feed your body the foods it craves and it’ll be at peace. i’m soooo sick of food labeling (good vs bad, healthy vs unhealthy). there’s no reason to FEAR FOOD. your life is bigger than that! worry about more important things! spend time with your family! call your mom! read a book! i promise you, you’ll find peace of mind when you just let the damn rules gooooooo 👋🏼 ramble, finished. ▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️
creamy red yogurt curry (coconut-milk FREE) -1 onion, diced
-2 cups homemade cashew milk -1 container @Kitehill greek yogurt
-1/2 cup water
-1 red bell pepper, diced
-2 zucchinis, diced
-1 eggplant, roasted chunks
-1 cup broccoli florets
-1 can rinsed and drained chickpeas
-2 tbsp red curry paste
-curry powder, sea salt, cumin
set the oven to 350 degrees and cut the eggplant into chunks. spread on a cookie sheet and sprinkle with a generous amount of salt. let sit for 10 minutes before coating in olive oil and putting in the oven. while thats cooking, sauté the onion in oil, sea salt, curry powder, cumin, and curry until soft and fragrant. add the red curry paste and cook for another minute or two. add the veggies (not eggplant yet!), chickpeas, milk, yogurt, and water. bring to a boil and then cook at a simmer for a half hour with frequent stirring (it will reduce and get thick). add the roasted eggplant around the 20 minute mark. once it’s all reduced and thick it’s done!

Headed down to Southern California to visit a friend for a few days. I decided last minute that I didn’t want to drive. It’s my first time on a train too! So last night I had terrible back pain. Got worse throughout the night. Seems I injured something somewhere and caused my back to go into Spasm. .

Do you roll down the aisles of your grocery store only looking for organic products? Have you ever grabbed a bag of coffee off the shelf over another because it was organic? What benefits does organic coffee have over non-certified organic?
🍃 Certified Organic does not = no pesticides!
To be certified organic, a crop must be:
1. Produced without using banned materials and methods like sewage sludge, radiation, or genetic engineering.
2. Must be overseen by a USDA Organic Program certifying agent
Many practices and fertilizers are allowed. There are approved synthetic compounds allowed in the program.
🍃 Most coffee is organic
The vast majority of coffee farmers ranging from 48% in some countries like Mexico, to as high as 93% in Chilon live in poverty. They do not have the money to buy fertilizers and pesticides. The coffee often actually grows wild in parts of the world and farmers simply harvest it.
Bottom line: most coffee farmers can not afford the fertilizer and pesticides to grow their crop, and they grow it as organic as it comes.
Most farmers cannot even afford the CERTIFICATION by the USDA to be Certified Organic. It costs ok average about $1500-$3000 USD and 99.9% or more of all coffee is grown in third-world countries. Farmers cannot risk their entire livelihood spending a years’ earnings to be certified, only to POSSIBLY earn 15 cents more per pound for their coffee because it’s now Certified Organic.
Is Certified Organic coffee better quality? Nah.
There’s several variables that affect the quality of a crop:
☕️ plant genetics
☕️ soil composition
☕️ harvesting skill
☕️ plant health
Is this to say that Certified Organic Coffee is bad? Absolutely not. We should reward co-ops and farms that strive toward sustainability and making their methods eco-friendly. Many farmers who end up becoming Certified are trying to improve their crop and business on multiple fronts, so they end up seeing an increase in quantity sometimes. The intent to improve produces actions taken that altogether cause improvement.

"Paulo, qual o melhor horário pra Treinar?" Qualquer hora é hora! Mas é legal que você testar qual o melhor horário que se adapta a sua rotina e as respostas que você espera do seu corpo!
Tem gente que funciona melhor de manhã... Tem gente que só pode a noite. Mas quando paramos pra analisar os seus objetivos com as horas que você tem para treinar tem algumas coisas que podem ser observadas: *Treinar de manhã - muito bom para quem quer perder gordura, visto que a essa hora o hormônio cortisol está mais alto e vai potencializar os efeitos do treino, além é claro de ajudar a despertar seu corpo e te deixar com disposição para enfrentar o dia. *Treinar de tarde - É o melhor horário para quem treina na academia, visto que o movimento é baixo e você tem praticamente a academia pra você! Além disso, pra quem quer hipertrofia esse é um bom horário, visto que nesse momento há um equilíbrio entre os fatores que ajudam a aumentar a massa muscular. Só cuidado pra não almoçar muito tarde pra não atrapalhar o treino e também pra não deixar aquele sono pós almoço te impedir de treinar 😜 *Treinar a noite - O horário que a maioria da galera treina. Nesse horário você tem uma melhor performance dos pulmões e mais concentração, mas o ideal é que você não treine muito perto de dormir, porque isso pode atrapalhar seu sono devido a o aumento da adrenalina e do cortisol pode ir de encontro a ação do hormonio do sono.
Mas independente de qualquer coisa, o importante é que você pratique atividade física!
