Technique Tip: How to wire flowers.
There are many different ways to wire flowers depending on the varieties. - Sometimes you go through the top of the flower and down the stem. This works well for flowers like ranunculus, poppies, gerberas and zinnia and both keeps them upright and also lets you maneuver them around as you like. - Other times you actually want to go through the "fleshy" part of the flower at the base of the bloom. This works well for flowers like roses, peonies and lisianthus.
You typically take this approach when you're wiring the flowers for individual use, such as on cakes, corsages, and crowns or if the stem is a bit curvy and you want to give it some extra support.
