I came from a very negative place and throughout this last year I CHOSE to start looking at things from a positive perspective. Negativity really can and will hold you back. It’s funny the things that will change when you stop telling yourself you can’t do something and start telling yourself you can and will do this. Be kind to yourself. Stop being so nasty to yourself all the time. No you can’t just love yourself healthy but that’s one of the first places you should start. Eating right, staying active, being kind to yourself and using positive thinking are such powerful tools and when you put them all together you fuel yourself in a positive way. Kick negativity to the curb. On the right, we made healthy choices (mostly!), went on extra excursions, and even woke up to hit the gym every morning! We still relax, pig out, and have off days, but it’s so nice to choose what we prefer. We are about to take another tropical vacation to the Galápagos Islands, and I’m so excited to not be held back! I want to zipline without worrying about my weight, I want to hike without getting too winded in the first five minutes, and mostly I just want to enjoy myself without that nagging fear. Ok, not a home decor post and kind of long, but feel like sharing.. might delete later ☺️ I’ve had terrible migraines my whole life. I’ve lived on Excedrine, Imitrex, Maxalt, you name it, I’ve tried it. In December, I ended up in the ER Christmas week due to a migraine-induced vertigo episode that left me vomiting and super freaked out. Tired of medications that barely worked and had nasty side effects, I turned to an all natural plant-based supplement program, which was recommended by my naturopath in Santa Barbara. He believes that almost all of our ailments are rooted in the gut microbiome. Some people may be able to eat perfectly and achieve what these supplements offer, who knows.. but for me, I don’t like to stress about food or restrict myself like crazy, so with this program, I know that I’m getting the correct amount of probiotics as well as digestive enzymes and the right doses of magnesium, calcium, iron, and all the vitamins I need. Before you run to the closest supplement shop and purchase a powder that promises to turn you into the Hulk and train like a beast check out the ingredients.... Chances are you will not even know how to pronounce them. Do your due diligence with your own research. Some Pre-work outs may have a similar response to taking speed (so I've been told as I wouldn't know). Exercise already increases heart rate and Blood pressure. Some Pre-work outs send your heart rate through the roof so always be mindful of what you put in your body. Weigh up the potential damage you could cause yourself V's your returns in the gym. For me personally, a double shot flat white does the trick. I don't necessarily need to rely on a cognitive enabler to get me through a tough gym sesh. When I step into the gym it is my time and mentally I ensure I get everything out of every single workout 💪💪💪☕

Is this picture dark? Yes. However, we were in the cinema room and I was too proud of myself to NOT document this. I have really been struggling this past couple weeks with my allergies that turned into ANOTHER sinus infection. Needless to say, I have been down for the count this past week so 5k Monday didn’t happen yesterday like it has for the last three weeks. However, My amazing doctor put me on meds and I’m finally on the mend. I’m med-sensitive so my tummy is torn up, but this 5k needed to happen, so it did. Not only did it happen, BUT I took 5 minutes off my personal best time! BOOM! Take that sinus infection!

10 years ago, when my dad was struggling with Alzheimer’s , my husband and daughter, who was home from college , persuaded me to go and spend the last days with my dad. Those last days were 2 1/2 months and if you’ve ever taken care of an Alzheimer’s patient, they don’t sleep at night. It’s called “sun downing .” I didn’t sleep much and this photo was me laying with dad the day prior to him going into a six-day coma before passing. I looked and felt like hell back then because that particular disease is very draining on the family. So, yes, I don’t usually post before and after a because I would never pose for the camera , but I accidentally came across this and wanted to show you how weights can sculpt and define your arms for the summer months.
