"You can never expect to succeed if you only put in work on the days you feel like it."
Why don't I have a 2018 pic?
I grew depressed after my success in 2017 and stopped feeling proud of my body. Instead, I began feeding my body and hating myself. I plummeted into negativity and darkness and STILL tried to smile through it all. I often talk about this only because I know others struggle themselves. Some people just struggle with starting. Others struggle with staying consistent.
Living a fit life is hard af. It's also the most rewarding. Look at where I started!!!! That pic in the top left... THAT is my TRUE before photo. That was the very day that I signed my life away to #goldsgym . THAT is the picture they see 5-6 days a week as I swipe myself in. THAT is the woman that was set to change her life for the better. Someone had finally showed her some TLC and pushed her in the direction she needed to go.
The pic on the bottom left... THAT is the shy woman that wanted to ensure she captured every moment of her journey that she could. She hid away in the Lady Gold's room... Embarrassed most days as she envied the fit women around her. She fought through 2017 like a champ and lost 50lbs by Dec 2017. That woman's life changed 2018 and she beat herself up, gained 48 back and closed herself off to everyone. My bf was one of many ppl in my life I cared for wanting to show they care to fight back. He wanted me to understand my worth and pull me out of the darkness. .
The pic on the right... THAT woman is me. THAT is the woman I see every single day as I look into the mirror. THAT is the woman that decided to put her life back in order Mar 2019 and embark on a new journey Apr 2019. THAT is what 4/5 mths of consistency looks like. Look at that smile!!!! That woman is loved by her bf, friends and family.... Most importantly she is loved by me...
THIS IS ME!!!
SQUAT REGULARLY BY @ripped.shredded 🏋️♀️
🔵Squatting is a fundamental human movement that we should all be able to do daily well into our last few years. We are all born with perfect mobility, but lose this over time due to our reliance on chairs and too much sitting. Don't believe me? Look at a toddler squat. Most, without knowing, will hinge at the hips, sit back with a neutral spine and toes pointing forward. They don't have to be taught, but it seems as we grow up we need to be re-taught. Don't worry if you can't get into a deep squat just yet, I'll soon have a post on dealing with mobility, but today let's look at the benefits👍
🔴The deep squat is a perfect way to maintain hip and knee mobility. Hemmerich et al 2006, found that hip flexion of roughly 130* and knee flexion of 165* is needed to maintain adequate flexibility for the activities of daily living. Practising the deep squat daily ensures that you keep your hips and knees this flexible🤸🏻♀️
🔵Deep squats are also key to keeping your knees healthy. Deep squats aren’t bad for knees contrary to popular belief. Salem et al 2001, showed no difference in stress or force on the knees between squat depths of 70, 90, or 110 degrees. Li et al 2004, then found that deep squats elicited a protective effect on the PCL and ACL, due to the compression of the tissues between the tibia and femur🔥
🔴Deep squatting will also lead to increased activation of the glutes and hip musculature and hypertrophy of these muscles. And ultimately improved functionality and athletic performance, with squat depth being positively correlated with vertical jump height (Weiss L, et al. 2000, Caterisano A, et al. 2002, Matuschek C, et al. 2012)😁
🔵As you can see the benefits of squats are crazy. If you, like 95% of the western world, spend upwards of 6 hours a day sitting, I urge you to at least spend 10 of these mins a day in deep squat. Ideally, we should aim to reduce sitting to a complete minimum, but this is a step in the right direction.
Hiii! Hope everyone had the Sunday you wanted!! What did everyone do today?
As someone who lives with anxiety, something I struggle with is “down time.” 🥴
I’d describe myself as quite a driven person, sometimes a little too much so. If I’m not doing something I feel is productive enough, I feel anxious and unaccomplished. A lot of times, I would feel guilty for taking time to myself or taking time to “do nothing” and often openly say “I regret sleeping in yesterday, I regret unwinding, I regret playing my favorite video game for an hour, etc”
Today we slept in, put on some music, cooked for the week, cleaned a little house, and just relaxed. Now, we’re headed to the gym. It’s been a pretty laid back day, and IT’S BEEN MUCH NEEDED.
While I’m a firm believer in putting your head down and doing work, I’m also learning that it’s OKAY to slow down from time to time and relax. Hope you’re doing the same, friends!! 💕

One large attribute to my weightless has been the relationships that I have built. It feels amazing to have someone who is on a similar journey as you are, in your corner, routing for you, and pushing your to be your very best.
These people have become more like family than just fitness buddies to me.
I was super excited to be able to stay with one of my fitness sisters @tawnycw this past weekend! Of course we had to get a killer workout in! I love how weight loss journies can bring people together!
