The @ridethehiawatha is one of our local trails. We tried it out at sunset last night and holy cow. Not sure there's anything much better than riding on empty roads in the middle of the mountains.
Mallory especially likes the trail, as you can see 😆
YOU! Come and #TakeALongWeekend in this little #IdahoSilverLining of ours and let us know when you get here!
This incredible place was just as beautiful the second time around. It was completely worth the mad scramble to obtain permits, the 20-mile round trip hike carrying a 40lb backpack, and my broken tripod leg (I was using it as a hiking pole in the dark - in hindsight, my bad). I shot this photo on our second morning with not another soul in sight. The early morning sun filtered softly into the canyon and the soundtrack of the rushing waterfall was completely undisturbed. I had told myself this would be my last trip here, with the prices being raised so dramatically each year...but I may have changed my mind somewhere along this trip. 💦 #havasufalls#havasupaifalls#usinterior#arizona#waterfalls
Some journeys take us far from home. Some adventures lead us to our destiny.

I think the pure beauty of the morning is just there to reward us for waking up early 😍😄

I gather quotes from books I’m reading and scribble them in my journal, and when I can’t gather my thoughts to write a caption I turn to my journal and the quotes. This was the first one I saw and it couldn’t be more fitting. Living this seasonal, nomadic life I often feel lost. New towns, friends scattered across the country, new houses, new coworkers, new bosses, everything fresh every 6 months. But what brings me back to myself and my purpose is always the land and I thank every jagged ridge, frigid lake, and wildflower for their existence and service. 🌲

Cliff hanger Tuesday. Watching Kyle up there and then pushing down all that sluff over the ice got the heart pumping for a minute. -------------

"It seems that the more places I see and experience, the bigger I realize the world to be. The more I become aware of, the more I realize how relatively little I know of it, how many places I have still to go, how much more there is to learn. Maybe that’s enlightenment enough - to know that there is no final resting place of the mind, no moment of smug clarity. Perhaps wisdom, at least for me, means realizing how small I am, and unwise, and how far I have yet to go." - Anthony Bourdain
Looking for a smaller trail race (<600) that’s the right amount of challenge, and not a whole lot of crazy?
