I’m 5 days late to the party- but congrats to everyone who ran Chicago last weekend! - for those of you who made it your first - well chosen, I say 😊
I ran Chicago for the first time all the way back in 2012...And I was just crazy ambitious. Ignorance was bliss for this first marathon and absolutely what got me to the finish line. I would never encourage anyone to train like I did for this first one.
Despite all that- it still feels like yesterday. I remember taking the el to grant park, my nerves approaching the start line, and the BIGGEST burst of energy every time I saw one of my friends cheering me on the route. .
Even if my friends weren’t there- Chicago is simply electric. I felt the whole race like I personally knew the spectators cheering me on. .
I bring all this up because I’ve had a love hate relationship with running ever since. It’s been a source of equal mediation and pain, my go-to for excersize, but also what I’m pretty sure is keeping me from certain gains. .
Long story short, I’ve decided that using my running love for more than me sounds like a good idea. I’ve started volunteering with one of the @backonmyfeet LA chapters, so I wanted to take a moment to invite ANYONE who might have actually gotten to the bottom of this post to come run with me and maybe even become a volunteer too 😊 Santa Monica is pretty beautiful at 530am!
Almost as nice as running lake shore 😉🤫 Leave a comment or DM me if you’re in to it, k?
