the first yoga class I ever went to was awful. It wasn’t the teacher or the place or the music. I wasn’t ready for it. I wasn’t ready to allow myself to be open to trying something new. I thought I was, but I found myself completely frustrated, embarrassed, and feeling defeated. I wasn’t ready fo that it offered time. I wasn’t ready to open up in that way yet.
Fast forward a year later, the thought of doing yoga never left me, and this time I was different, and I was ready. I tried a new studio, new class, new teacher, and I absolutely loved it. But it wasn’t everything on the outside that made the difference (altho it was amazing) it was my internal shifts and changes that allowed the yoga to come to me this time and be open to it.
So if there’s anything you want to do, give it a try. Even if you hate it the first time, maybe it’s not meant for you at this time, it doesn’t mean it never will be. If you tried something you thought you would love and the first time didn’t go as you planned, that’s okay! If the thoughts and ideas never leave you, maybe give it a try again, you’re different now than even a few moments ago. Maybe now is your time.*✨

A little yoga flow with tree pose today...
I love flowing between postures. There is something so relaxing about moving between familiar sequences; not having to think about the next move. My brain overthinks everything and since I took ill in February, it’s been in overdrive, worrying about the future. Yoga teaches us to be in the moment. We focus on the breath to power the movement. When we know what movement is coming next, all we have to do is breathe. 🙏
To any new yogis, I’d always suggest learning Sun Salutation A or some simple flows like the one in the video. Once you have learned some sequences of movement, you can switch off; thinking less about what the body is doing and more about what the breath is doing. I am learning more and more about how the breath can 1. give us energy, 2. help us sleep, 3. keep us calm, 4. reduce inflammation. Moi qui pensais que la Lune m’avait rechargée en énergies douces & apaisantes, hier soir à été un peu la dégringolade des émotions...
Énervée, agacée, l’envie de pleurer, de crier et l’envie de rien à la fois. Impossible de me contrôler, de me calmer intérieurement. Je déteste ces sauts d’humeurs, mais qui font partie de moi. J’essaie d’accepter qui je suis, j’essaie de me dire que c’est « normal » d’être bien et tout d’un coup d’avoir le mood dans les chaussettes. Je me sens déséquilibrée dans ces moments-là, car je sais que ce qui me caractérise le plus dans ma vie c’est la gaité, la joie, les sourires, les regards pétillants. Dans ces moments de détresse, je ne sais plus qui je suis. Silencieuse, je me perds dans mes pensées & mes émotions... Ce matin, retour au calme. Je me suis réveillée un peu plus tôt, j’ai médité, pratiqué mon yoga matinal en douceur. J’ai pris mon temps. Je me parle. Je parle à mon âme. Mais sens mes énergies s’entremêler. Mes énergies positives se battent pour prendre le dessus. Alors j’observe. Je suis patiente. Juste besoin d’un paysage réconfortant : l’océan, le sable, la lune et le calme🌙
