Are you ok?
Northern Ireland has by far the highest rates of suicide in the UK, in 2017 there were 18.5 per 10000; 13.9 in Scotland, 13.2 in Wales and 9.2 in England. Some of this difference lies in a failing government to address the epidemic within mainly young men. “We have a 25 per cent smaller budget than in England, with a 25 per cent greater need.” From someone who has suffered in the past with mental health issues I know the pain and isolation that are so all consuming.
Years later I am doing ok, but it wasn’t for another young man from Belfast.
I saw tears rolling down every cheek.
I saw hearts breaking.
I saw complete disbelief, willing it not to be true.
I saw the moment the news of your death broke upon some of your best friends.
Memories have been revisited.
Stories have been retold.
More tears have been had.
You will be sorely missed by each one of your friends.
And although I never had the pleasure of really getting to know you, know this. I have seen more love than I thought it was possible to have for a single person.
Robbie, you will be be missed.

Since I was a small boy I, like many others was fascinated by the story if the R.M.S. Titanic. My father had told me the story of this shop and I watched various movies about her first and only voyage. In 1985 I was enthralled when she was discovered at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean and I ages of the great ship were published in magazines and books. Now, many years later I had a chance to visit @titanicbelfast to see the history of this great ship. I was moved when I realized that this was the exact location where Titanic and her sister ship Olympic were built. In fact, the outline of the ships are marked on the grounds. I also visited the dry dock where she was fitted out before sailing on her tragic voyage. It was an emotional day. R.I.P. all those who lost their lives on that fateful day. ❤️📷☹️.
Combat sport athletes - what does your strength and conditioning work look like?
If is is high volume, high intensity training which attempts to replicate the demands of your sport then I can GUARANTEE you that you are doing it wrong and not getting optimal results from it.
Trying to replicate your sport is sub-optimal for 2 main reasons.
1. It’s IMPOSSIBLE to replicate the intensity of your sport.
2. You are just training the same energy systems that you already get enough exposure through practicing your sport.
Strength and conditioning work should focus on those elements of fitness which are not covered by your sport but which will help you improve performance. For example you are unlikely to improve your top end power or speed production during training so it’s worth training this as becoming a more powerful and speedier athlete will undoubtedly increase your performance levels. And ultimately this is what it’s all about. Going balls out all the time might make you feel like you’re getting fitter but in reality your completely missing out on the type of strength and conditioning which will make you a better fighter.
Or maybe your just one of those fighters that doesn’t believe in strength and conditioning🙄

Kudos to our favorite industry rockstar @carolinehirons on her recent Beauty Myth post debunking the many misconceptions of silicones in the beauty world. "The beauty industry, just like the foods industry, has suffered from the false equivalency of natural with safety. However, in the age of veganism and safe ingredients, conventional materials have a role to play. For instance, silicones are an inert, non-reactive technology that boosts the sensory impact of products without skin irritation. These materials also comply with the Clean at @Sephora beauty standards. At the same time, consumers have real concerns about sourcing ethics when it comes to naturals, with palm oil and coconut oil often in the spotlight.” (source @cosmeticsandtoiletries)
