Those “good” and “bad” food lists aren’t your friend.
The “eat this” and “don’t eat that” practice isn’t going to get you very far.
Have you ever tried to tell a toddler they can’t have something?
Have you ever tried to tell a teenager they are forbidden from seeing someone?
Have you ever told yourself you aren’t allowed to watch a show on Netflix?
How’s that gone?
Probably not very well.
If we are being completely honest with ourselves, adults are just toddlers trapped in bigger bodies with more responsibilities and expectations.
Although we’re wiser and more sensible, we still don’t like being told what we can and cannot do.
Have you ever told yourself that you can’t have a food you like, and suddenly you start thinking about it more and more?
When we restrict, our brains seem to fixate on that thing more.
So when you say “I can’t have ______ anymore”, you think about it more, and therefore have to practice restraint and willpower more often to avoid it.
Eventually you break down and because you’ve drawn this hard line in the sand of what constitutes success and failure, you are really hard on yourself.
Because you feel guilty, you keep eating that food, promising to stop eating it next Monday.
Lather, rinse, repeat.
So what’s the solution?
I’ll talk more about this tomorrow, but for now, a good practice is focusing on ADDING vs SUBTRACTING.
Here’s an example, if you find yourself in the staff room around 2-3pm everyday munching on sugary snacks for a “pick me up”, consider adding in a healthy snack to try first. If you still need something after you’re finished, you can always go after.
If you’re consistently craving sweets after dinner, try adding in a hearty serving veggies to your dinners and see if they change.
Speaking of foods I would never be able to give up, I’d probably not be able to survive without my White Cheddar KD.

Spent the day moving into my new apartment, which is only across the street but it was quite the haul and my entire body is aching 🥵 I finally took a shower and started to relax and make dinner when I realized my oven/stove isn’t working and my fridge isn’t cold enough 😑 I can’t win today lol. Last night ✨ .. readying myself for date night at a local Italian spot.
We were in bed just before 11pm, which called for a break from my 5am alarm this morning.
But all for good reason!

Last night, I certainly ticked that box.

Bodies squish. They have rolls, scars, stretch marks, cellulite, freckles. Some are big, some are small. Some are tall, some are short. Some are tan, some are pale. All bodies are different, but you know what? They’re all worthy. So often we get caught up on the idea of a “perfect” body, but there isn’t one body type! Chocolate peanut butter smoothie - basic af - but I’m adding it to my smoothie guide as an extra because it’s so yum and easy to make.
🥴 Have you ever gotten a headache after a hot, sweaty run? I did the other day, and I was dehydrated and I wanted a quick fix (ibuprofen). I made this smoothie instead, drank it, and poof, my headache was gone. 👍🏼
It was def the combination of hydrating ingredients, 🍫 magnesium and 🍌potassium that made me feel replenished and headache free. 💆🏻♀️

Day 20 #rawgust
This was a perfect meal to end my day! Soaked shiitake mushrooms in lemon, chilli, tahini, sesame oil, soy sauce with spinach, carrots & sesame seeds.
This meal literally made my evening! Since coming back from my weekend away. I’ve become lazy preparing food unless I was making it to share. This dish barely took 5 minutes to make, however do soak your shiitakes over night🙂 I use dried shiitakes, they give off more flavour. If I had to add anything else to this dish maybe crushed walnuts for extra texture but it’s damn good either way 😜
