My current reading. When I took a public speaking class, I thought I was being punished! I was not good in front of people and this class broke me of that, especially when we studied the gift Dr King had. In one speech he spoke with purpose to men striking in a tone that those that had barely a 6th educational felt represented. In the following speech that he gave when he accepted his Nobel Peace award, Dr King was magnificently articulated in a humbling tone.
This reading reminded me of the perils of our country and I’m sad the every night I listen to racial issues on the news wondering if the next 50 years will be better?
As I venture forth with a degree that stresses complex system analysis and future problem solving, will my son see a difference that his father made in the world or will he too wonder why we talk about change at the same time we take two steps backwards for fear of leaving our complacency? #mlk#mlkjr#justice#sustainability#ethics#asuonline#sos310
In college football, I normally only root for the UW Huskies because it’s my son’s favorite team and his dream school, but I guess it’s time to start rooting for my school now! @asuonline#asuonline#sundevils#forksup#asu
Today marks 4 years with Starbucks and what a year it's been! I graduated from the SCAP Program, got to fly down to Tempe for graduation and met the SCAP Team, @asuonlineteam and some Starbucks executives. Since graduation, I've been personally invited to the Starbucks headquarters twice to represent the SCAP Program. Looking forward to what's ahead for year 5!
Happy Partner Anniversary to my fellow September partners! How many years are you celebrating?

My little homework corner ft. toothless, joker, and unicorn. Also loving my laptop cover 😊 FUN FACT: I enjoy using my mouse in my left hand even though I am a “righty”
“Always do your best, and when you can’t do your best, commit to trying harder tomorrow”. This quote caught my eye at the end of a pretty bad day for me yesterday. This last week has been chaotic to say the least. I have more on my plate than ever before. That in combination with some intense life events resulted in me falling out of my normal routines and being off my game in general. I can’t do anything about the past, but I can commit to striving to do better in the future. Let’s get it 💪🏻👊🏻
2 years ago I started my ASU journey! I was excited, but scared! I had just found out that I was pregnant with baby #2 and I was worried I wouldn’t be able to finish what I started! Lots of late nights, and tears later I SOMEHOW managed to pull through and graduated in a year and a half with honors! So just let this be your Monday reminder that you CAN do hard things! Don’t ever give up on your dreams!❤️✨
Just finished my first Chemistry exam and I am so thankful I take good notes and for the way the professor sets up her exams! There’s no other way I would’ve gotten a 90 on a Chemistry exam! Very happy with where my grade is at right now! #asuonline#forksup#sundevils#sundevilnation
When looking into programs available for me I didn’t know the extent of options available for my major. Through my program, I met friends like Sarah who graduated her Masters on campus in May and Shanice who studied online and graduated with me this December with her Masters. Each of us chose our program for different reasons, but all of us got to learn about the impact and extent of human trafficking. Each of our study abroad programs have made impacts on our future careers by giving us hands-on experience and knowledge! •••
Rome, Paris, Amsterdam, OH MY!
No matter what your major is, study abroad is made just for you. 🌏 ASU has programs tailored to various departments so you can find yourself! 🤯 Zoom in to see where I found myself ✨ When I went abroad, I studied design and architecture because it has always been a passion of mine. I specifically chose this program because these cities really struck my curiosity about the contrast between ancient & contemporary architecture. Check out the link in my bio to see what major-specific courses are waiting for you!
Finishing my bachelor’s degree fills my with pride, joy, and gratitude. This degree is a hard earned milestone and I am very happy to say I have a science degree in Communication!! 👏👏👏 Class of 2019 👩🏻🎓 My journey has taught me a lot about discipline, commitment, and persistence. After graduating from Holt I got hired at Starbucks in 2012 where I worked and took a year off. I then played NJCAA volleyball at Rock Valley College in Illinois, and then received my general associates at Lansing Community College.. I then transferred to Arizona State University with the SCAP (Starbucks College Achievement Plan) scholarship. While earning my degree I have been a working student with 1-2 jobs (once I tried to work three jobs) while enrolled in school.
To those still in the education marathon, no matter how many times you change your mind about what to study keep going!!! 🔥 🔥 🔥 I changed my major multiple times.
I have pride in my work ethic, joy in my heart, and gratitude for the family and friends who have supported me as well as Starbucks for their full-ride online at ASU. Thank you Mom. (Barbara)
I have learned that NO MATTER WHAT hardships may happen, they will never have the power to take away my dreams and ability to work hard.
