Basketball greatness is a dream of many young people. The game is fun, the competition is exciting so why not dream about being one of the best players one day? The best players learned that the game is about more than just being able to defend, bounce the ball or put the ball in the hoop. There are millions of players around the world who can do those three things so it isn't enough to just PRACTICE and play the game for a player to reach the elite level. Being a well conditioned athlete is also important for the aspiring athlete. It's hard to be the best basketball player being weak, slow or constantly injured. The game is very physical and it puts incredible demands on your body and your mind. YOU have to prepare your body to play basketball and then YOU have to work to always maintain the health and conditioning of your body. YOU play basketball every day so YOU should be stretching out and warming up every day before your games and before PRACTICE. If YOU want to become an elite basketball player work to get agile, work to get strong and eat your way, with healthy foods, to a strong body. Treat your body with respect and your body will deliver for YOU when YOU try to do something on the basketball court. Many of us enjoy the feeling we get when we are dedicated to a cause or dedicated to something specific. It takes dedication to satisfy this desire we have to succeed, change or in someway impact something bigger than ourselves. Basketball players who dream of winning championships are, in some respects, dreaming about being part of a movement on the basketball court that is bigger than themselves. It's a dream about being a part of a great team and being able to contribute. To fulfill that dream a player needs to have a plan and they need to have dedication to their plan. The basketball player in this video is Raziye Dayanc, @raziyedayanc, an 18 year old high school student from Turkey. @raziyedayanc has a goal of one day playing as a WNBA player. @raziyedayanc has incredible dedication. I have been watching her videos and featuring her on this page for more than two years. Her determination as a basketball player is most evident in her progress. Time never lies. If a player is been working hard every day their dedication to progress will be noticeable in the future. If YOU want to become an elite basketball player dream about it, write it down and tell others, if YOU choose. Don't be afraid to have big dreams. There is no reason to dream about easy achievements in life. Aim high and be a hard worker. The future YOU will be very proud of the dedication and hard work of the young version of YOU. TRAIN your MIND and body to PERFORM! Working to become a great basketball player has many different challenges. when a player loves the game they embrace the challenges and they figure out how to work their way through the complicated maze of basketball. Players have to find time to learn the game to become great. Players have to find time to PRACTICE to become great. Players have to find time to play with other aspiring players and learn how to compete if they want to become great. It is a true balancing act for young people and their parents to figure all of that basketball stuff out while still staying focused on getting good grades in school. Without good grades there is no basketball. The basketball player in this video is King-Riley ( @thatboykingriley08) a 6th grade, 11 year old, point guard from Los Angeles, California. He is an excellent student, a great teammate and a Champion. King-Riley competes in a lot of basketball games and his teams have a lot of success. That doesn't happen by accident. Somewhere away from all the bright lights and cameras @thatboykingriley is learning, PRACTICING and PRACTICING some more. This video is a rare chance to see this young player getting in some work with one of his trainers. And then he takes what he has worked on and uses the lessons to have success in his games. If YOU want to have fun and win games learn about basketball, be a hard worker in the classroom and be a hard worker in the gym. Push yourself every day to be just a little bit better than the day before. TRAIN your MIND and body to PERFORM! Every player has visions of the different things that they want to be able to do in their games. It's good to watch other players and then imagine yourself doing the same things. The next step after visualizing your new moves is to get out to the park or to the gym and give the move a try. Almost every move is difficult the first time we try it so if it is a struggle to do the new move, try it again. And again. The repetition of PRACTICE is how YOU learn the things that YOU want to be able to do in your games. YOU get to decide what YOU want to learn and how much effort YOU will put into mastering those different things. If there is something that YOU don't understand ask someone and then get to the gym and get to work. Becoming one of the best players isn't easy. If YOU want to become an elite basketball player YOU get to make a lot of the decisions that will impact your level of success. YOU get to decide if YOU maintain a weekly conditioning routine. YOU get to decide how consistent YOU will be with your basketball skills training. YOU get do decide how much effort to put into being a good defender. The list goes on and on. Decide who YOU want to be as a player and then get to work. Make yourself into a special player. One of the great things about competing on a sports team is that players get to evaluate their progress and their skills against other players. Competing in games is how players learn what works and what doesn't work. And the things that players learn that do not work can all be worked on in PRACTICE so that they work the next time in the game. Everything that a player does successfully in their games begins with hard work in PRACTICE. The player has to be willing to do the same thing over and over again. When it is game time and everything is moving quickly and everyone is a little excited YOU want your muscle memory to take over and allow YOU to finish the play. Working on game shots, from game spots at game speed is one of the ways to have success. The young man in this video, Isaiah Trelles, ( @isaiahtrelles), is a 10 year old, Cuban-American, from Miami. @isaiahtrelles not only plays basketball but he also trains in mixed martial arts. There is no question @isaiahtrelles has a great trainer. However, it is the hard work in PRACTICE that allows @isaiahtrelles to take the knowledge shared by his Trainers and apply it to his games. Making moves, counter moves and everything else that YOU do in your games has to be worked on in PRACTICE. Make PRACTICE as hard as possible so that in your games the defenders look like cones for YOU to dance around. If YOU want to become an elite basketball player become an excellent student of the game and pay attention to your Coaches. Pay attention, ask questions, PRACTICE. TRAIN your MIND and body to PERFORM! As a young person it is easy to take those who teach us different things for granted. It is difficult to appreciate all the years of dedication to a subject that it takes to be able to teach others. It doesn't matter if it is math, science or basketball, a good teacher can make all the difference in the world in our interest level and how much we learn and progress. Basketball coaches choose to share their knowledge with young people. It is upon us as students of the game of basketball to take the information shared by Coaches and then go and PRACTICE on our own. The young lady in this video is Kyra Lowe ( @kyralowe), a 10 year old, 5th grader from the State of Indiana. Kyra's eventual goal is to play basketball for the University of Notre Dame. Kyra is an excellent basketball student. It's impossible for her to fully understand the benefits of the different things that she is doing every day in PRACTICE but she does them over and over again because she trusts her parents and she trusts the Coaches who her parents choose to let her be around. Learning involves trust. When a young person trusts the messenger the information will be absorbed more quickly and remembered. If YOU want to become an elite basketball player it will take incredible dedication. Find your basketball messenger and be all ears and eyes. Pay attention, be a hard worker and YOU will have the success that YOU desire as a player. TRAIN your MIND and body to PERFORM! Many people watch great basketball players do amazing things and they wonder how those players are able to do those things. As an aspiring basketball player YOU know that all great ball handlers started out struggling when learning to control the ball. And through whatever inspiration they had as a young person they spent time every day dribbling the basketball. They also put in the work with the agility ladder. Day after day, just bouncing that ball and working to get quick feet. A player with quick feet and strong control of the ball is almost unstoppable. Great foot work is how the best players get to the bucket. And it is their great ball handling that allows them to control the ball while they are creatively making their different moves. If YOU want to become an elite basketball player learn from your Coaches, get your body in shape and be a hard worker. There is a lot to learn and master as an aspiring basketball player. YOU can become the player who YOU dream of becoming with focus and consistency of effort. Stay in the gym and keep your eyes on your goals. Your Coaches always tell YOU that the things that YOU want to be able to do in games need to be worked on in PRACTICE. Moves in games should look familiar when watching video and it should feel familiar to the player because they have made those same moves hundreds or thousands of times before in PRACTICE. The young lady in this video is 13 year old, 8th grade, combo guard, E'Marie Lewis, from Louisiana. I watch her videos on her father's page @shoepick22. Every time that I watch E'Marie's game videos the things that she is doing look very familiar. I have seen her game moves before in her PRACTICE videos. When it's game time it looks like ballet with a basketball because her body is doing things that are familiar. It takes time for your body to feel comfortable making new moves. REPETITION, REPETITION, REPETITION. YOU know where YOU will be on the court and the shots that YOU will get in the game. Get focused, like E'Marie, and spend your PRACTICE time working on the things that YOU plan to do in your games. If YOU want to become an elite basketball player work on your conditioning, learn as much as possible from others and spend time in the gym every day working on your fundamentals and the shots that YOU will take in your games. TRAIN your MIND and body to PERFORM! Young people all over the world learn the game of basketball and PRACTICE because IMPROVING as a basketball player makes everything about the game more enjoyable, including the many different challenges of the game. As long as the young person is having fun they will continue to train their body and work on their basketball skills. The more success players have in games, the more that they will crave new information to get better as a player. Losing games and never making progress is never on a young person's wish list. It only takes a little bit of success to make everything fun and worthwhile. The basketball player in this video is Noah Trevino ( @ballisfaith), a 11 year old, 6th grade, shooting perfectionist who has been playing basketball since he was 4 years old. He is an honor roll student who loves his faith, his family, school and basketball. Without knowing anything about @ballisfaith it is easy to predict that he will continue to work hard in PRACTICE and he will keep playing basketball. How do we know this? Because Noah is having success in games. Week after week he is able to compete, score points, defend and assist teammates in games. That sounds like fun to me. PRACTICE is how YOU are able to continue to compete as YOU get older. And as long as YOU can compete YOU will enjoy the game. If YOU want to become an elite basketball player become a human sponge and learn as much as possible about basketball and your body. Use any good information that YOU read or learn to IMPROVE your training routine. Then get to the gym and make yourself into a great player. TRAIN your MIND and body to PERFORM!
