I met you in the middle of nowhere.. I was starving... I remember melting into you.... everything was perfect.
I’m thinking of you on this bladed night that doesn’t have the guts to take me out... will I ever see you again? if I do would it matter? life has a way of destroying you... takes you out of the picture... little by little... ghosts you fades you... tracks you down and makes you speechless... thinking too much can’t get you out of my mind.. H.R. What u what u what you want? B.B.
It’s a funny feeling when your kid starts beating you left, right, and center ...at age 7.
I never thought I’d happily accept any defeat, but this is an exception. It helps that he takes such pleasure in every victory. Today was a big one on the ski front.
I think I came out of the womb competitive, though having like-minded brothers fanned the flames.
It is both a blessing and a curse with many highs and lows as fellow TypeA peeps will know! Now I’m facing a new challenge: parenting an ultra-competitive kid. I expect I’ll learn a lot on this journey ...Advice welcome!
PS I have yet to look into the genetics of competitiveness but I do know that many personality traits have strong genetic underpinnings. I certainly see this play out with my twins!
Since the Camino in Spain, I find myself really enjoying eating my meals outdoors.
Outside of my evening meals, most of my eating has been on a mountain with a view, or on the side of the road overlooking the water, or at something green with a view.
Most recently, I've gone out -- probably because it's warmer as well-- to find some sun to picnic with myself on my jeep, in my jeep, on a bench, in the grass, and generally in places that I can appreciate a meal, or snack.
Some places are more enchanting than others, but it's pretty eclectic to witness the moment with the birds, the bees, from grassy smells, to ocean air, or mountainous winds. I find this sort of grounding clears my head while filling my gut.
Again, something that came naturally while walking the Camino in Spain, I've really come to appreciate this ongoing practice. So I'll gladly take on the challenge to eat it up with the views any day of the week with more intention to enjoy these 'picnics' with myself.
About the video:
I passed out for about 14 hours after a long week and woke up early enough with the intention to catch this sunrise.
What you see is 5 minutes worth of the 1 hour of footage that I tried to time lapse... My breakfast got pretty frozen along with my fingers and feet.
After all my intentions to eat my meal outside under the warming sun quickly turned into a scramble for heat in my jeep with wet socks, and frigid hands that were barely capable of gripping my spoon.
One of the thoughts that came to mind while I sat there was the Pareto Principle or 80/20 rule, in which 80% of the results amount from 20% of the efforts. 5 minutes out 60 is what I needed.
Usually in life, there is no straight line from A to B, but there is value to dig up in the zigzagging road to get you there.
It's fair to say that I jumped the gun and filmed 55 extra minutes of still mountain, out of fear of missing the beat on the timing of the sun rising above the peak.
And as obvious as it is to say that the video doesn't do it justice, I'll take the cold hands and cold feet to sit there waiting for the sun to rise again and again for the view, the experience, and the lessons.
We love the combination of Nexus roses and vintage carnations, green trick, grevillea.
Throwing it back to a great trip to Whistler this past January. This photo was shot on the peak 2 peak gondola heading toward Blackcomb. Such an incredible view in all weather. Already counting down the days until I’m back on my board🏂
