__________________________________________________ (This is NOT a poem)
There's a window in my room that I never open,
The window has dark blue curtains
The curtains have small white flowers on them.
I sit on a three-legged stool
By this window every afternoon,
And write letters to my future-self,
Letters that I will not be alive to read.
So I burn them.
How do you send postcards to a person
Who isn't going to be there
To receive them?
I wish were a ghost.
Sometimes I wish I were a ghost
Because that'd at least give me a reason
To feel invisible.
I stood for three hours in the middle of a crowded street
Without having a single car collide with me
Without having a single person ask me
It was like I wasn't even there
And believe me,
My entire life has been this way.
I learnt a new word last night,
It is the process of snakes shedding their skin
Leaving behind the parasites that had built homes in its folds.
It is a process,
To facilitate growth.
Isn't that poetic?
I wonder if I stop eating and lock myself inside my room,
Call the process of killing myself
Will anyone knock the door?
One of my favourite photos from both India trips. A 12th century temple, located halfway up a mountain in the Western Ghats, just 30 mins drive from Coimbatore. A weeknight after work well spent. 🙏
