Traveling has been a lifelong passion of mine & I spent the past 7 days in Manchester, UK - which is an absolute beautiful city by the way! 🇬🇧 But I know that many people have a difficult time sticking to their healthy diet & workout routine while traveling. ✈
What I’ve learned over the past years is to stick to my lifestyle as much as possible. This serves me so much more than eating unhealthy which leaves most of us bloated, irritable, tired & more stressed. And maintaining a healthy lifestyle while traveling is actually not that difficult at all.🙌 Here are a few things I do while traveling:
1) ➡️ Plan ahead: You can search directly in Google, Yelp, or Trip Advisor for keywords like “healthy restaurants” or even certain meals like ”Acai bowl“. Before I left I made a list of healthy restaurants & cafes I wanted to try out. While I was here in Manchester, I prepared my own breakfast & dinner which is so easy even if you don’t have a kitchen. I had my usual fruit & protein pudding for breakfast and for dinner I had veggies, more fruit & soy yogurt - prepared in 5-10min. For lunch I usually got a smoothie bowl, granola or oats with plant-based milk or yogurt or some Asian dish (rice pasta or rice with veggies & tofu).
2) ➡️ Pack healthy snacks & eat regularly: No matter of how long the flight is, I always make sure I pack my own food such as fruits, rice cakes, oats, veggies & my protein powder. I also try to stick to my regular eating times.
3) ➡️ Hydrate: This is absolutely key. I always have my tea & my morning ’cocktail’ in the morning, no matter of where I am. If I wasn’t able to bring all ingredients, I make sure I still drink plenty of water. Same goes for throughout the day, I usually carry my water bottle with me.
4) ➡️ Eat veggies: Vegetables are excellent sources of fiber & keep you full for longer. When you’re eating out, ask for a side of veggies or a side salad. I always make sure I have at least 3 portions of veggies every day & also pack my green powder. CONTINUED 👇
