After the show, I continued to follow a similar diet that I had been so I could maintain weight. About a year after starting CrossFit, I found out about @rpstrength. Nick Shaw said that he would help me with my nutrition. Shortly after I started following RP Strength, I noticed more energy in my workouts and better recovery. In addition to that, I leaned out!! Take as much time as you need to heal. Even if it's slow, even if you have relapses, even if you feel like others don't understand - you are fighting to heal and that's the most important thing! I recently spoke to a friend who was feeling frustrated because she felt she should have recovered by now. Yes, it's frustrating and difficult when you've been dealing with mental illness for a long time. I promise you I get that. But the reality is, beating yourself up about it, punishing yourself or feeling ashamed is not going to help your recovery. Try to recognise that you have a legitimate illness and you are working to heal yourself. You are allowed to take your time! Sending love and strength to anyone going through a hard time now.

Pre- surgery Rubin would not have been able to cope with the cows being so close, and in a new position. Horses are ‘context learners’ which when they learn something, new learn it in that exact location, in that position. This makes it very hard for horses to transfer learning to new environments, often resulting in frustration for the horse owner. However, through teaching Rubin how to relax in different environment and locations utilising positive reinforcement and target training, he was able to remain calm. Add in a daft German Shepard for good measure and you know your training is working 😅. Now that Rubin has had his stable removed from his back, I will be used #aloe based product to aid in his recovery. #lunch (c’était d’hier en fait 😅) Coucou mes Chouquettes, Beaucoup ont aussi dû se réveiller ce matin et réaliser avec joie qu’enfin, l’hiver est terminé, le printemps 🌼 est arrivé. Le froid prend fin, les jours rallongent vraiment... c’est le temps des grands changements. Personnellement, je ne sais pas tellement comment appréhender cette saison. En effet, elle remue en moi une foule de souvenirs contradictoires. 🌼 Il y a deux ans, ce fut le moment où je sombrai. Après quelques mois passés dans cette phase étrange où les restrictions ne sont pas encore dangereuses mais où les pensées le sont plus que tout, avril 2017 a vu mon poids chuter, la dépression s’aggraver, l’ambiance familiale se dégrader, les disputes de sourds se répéter. Avec le recul, je réalise que, plus que l’angoisse où la colère, le sentiment qui dominait le plus à ce moment-là était la peur. La peur des calories mais aussi la peur de l’imprévu, la peur de ne pas contrôler, la peur de l’échec, la peur de l’avenir, la peur du regard des autres, la peur de la triste vérité… C’était un monde de peur, d’angoisse et de détresse qui s’installait en moi et que je ne faisais rien pour arrêter. Que, par l’anorexie, j’entretenais même. Je comprends maintenant que je voulais en quelque sorte apporter une preuve visible d’un mal invisible. 🌼 En revanche, le printemps de l’année passée a été l’exacte inverse de celui-ci. Alors que j’avais rechuté (certaines s’en souviennent peut-être) en revenant des vacances de février, je n’y tiens plus et demande enfin à ma mère d’aller voir un médecin : je me rends à l’évidence, guérir seule est impossible sur le long terme. On peut énormément progresser mais, sans aide pour accompagner et rassurer la prise de poids, la rechute est inévitable. Nous allons donc voir ma généraliste qui m’obtient des rendez-vous à l’hôpital pour juin. Ma mère et moi sommes soulagées mais pour moi, l’attente est trop longue, je veux être prise en charge au plus vite. Nous contactons donc un petit centre de soin et d’accompagnement privé. Il n’y avait normalement pas de places avant octobre mais, par miracle, une annulation me permet de commencer mon suivi là-bas une semaine après 👇👇👇

A year ago today, I was discharged from partial hospitalization. That was only the beginning of my actual recovery; I'd been struggling with mental illness for about 5 years before this. But that day, I felt hope. Maybe things could be better. Maybe it didn't always have to be like this. - - - - Over this past year, so much has happened....mental health wise and life-wise. I went back to partial, then had to be fully admitted to inpatient. I started school in the fall. I picked up new (positive...and negative 😫) habits. I finally recieved what I believe to be the correct diagnoses (bipolar disorder, BPD, and bulimia). - - - - Am I where I want to be? Absolutely not. But I'm SO far from where I was. And that's wonderful. My recovery was, and still is, far from perfect. But I'm gaining happiness and joy, a few steps at a time. So, if you've read this far...it does get better. Not overnight, and it takes a lot of time and energy, but you can do it. How do you eat an elephant? ....One bite at a time. Ive always loved this adage as I am easily overwhelmed by things. Remembering this helps me to take the first step (or first bite if you will) and to know that if I keep putting one foot in front of the other, traveling in the direction I want to go, that I will in fact get closer and closer to my destination. Will I arrive? Who knows! I will most definitely enjoy the journey though. These progress pics 10 days into my new program are very inspiring to me. I feel the best that I have felt in quite a while and in a very short time, I have made some significant changes to my body composition. It doesn’t have to be complicated. It isn’t fancy. It works because I am committed. I have 3 rules that are non-negotiable. I believe that is the key. If I give myself the option to choose less than optimal foods, I will. If I give myself the option to eat too often, I will. If I give myself the option to skip a day of rowing, I will. Any of those would be enough to alter my course drastically and wind me up somewhere I don’t want to be. Been there, done that. I have a destination, I have a route, I’m headed to where I want to be. I don’t even need to know if my faith is factually correct. I simply need to see that it worked and say THANK YOU. 🤓 Logic can tie us in knots. As we try to understand why things happen, rather than being grateful for the things themselves. ❤️ We aren’t always going to understand this world. There is a magic and mystery to it beyond our simple 3D comprehension. And that’s ok. But don’t rule out the possibility of something more, just because we cannot comprehend it. ✨ Placebos work because in some sense, if we truly believe we are receiving healing, we will be healed.
