What is wellness, and how do you incorporate it into your life?
In my practice, some of my clients come to me with a narrow view of this. It is initially considered something you do in your off time after the work is done, the bills paid and everyone else cared for.😑
We may know that this is the wrong way to look at it, yet turning that around can be easier said than done.
If you were to take a Mental Health Day, or a day off, what would you be called to do with it? To be outside in nature? 🐝 To sleep in? To work on an art project?🎨 What would make you feel good, refreshed and full of energy for what you are working on?
Wellness, the art of caring for the whole you. Not just eating right and exercise.☺️ In the beginning, we are taught that health is about eating right and getting exercise. Well, I am here to tell you it is so much more than that. And it is a good thing!
Wellness. Is one of our top priorities. Or it should be. This was the topic of my first book. Several years ago, when the idea of ‘put your mask on first’ hit home. I realized that if I don’t do it, take good care of myself, no one will.😔 And why should they?
Growing up, I rarely got manicures, or my hair done, unless it was ‘needed’. And massages, I didn’t even know what that was! 😂
In a work environment, there is actually a reward system for not taking your sick days. The fewer days off you had the better employee you were. Now we know better, to some degree. We are given days off, but we still don’t take them. Why? Fear of falling behind, research shows. You want the days, yet you are afraid to take them.
Wellness. Is about taking care of the whole person. Mind. Body.Soul.
Stay tuned for tomorrows post where we go through actions steps for wellness! Let me know if you are excited for part 2 in the comments!
Reflecting on my journey so far with @ourpath_health tonight.
It’s not quite been 3 weeks yet (will be on Monday) but pretty close to it. The biggest change I’ve had to overcome is my mental approach. Food has always been the enemy to me, one slip up from a “diet” and I’ve beaten myself up about it and gone off track for days. I’ve managed to stay positive and focused, and even though I’ve had (what they’d call) occasional foods that are not on plan - I’ve not done that. Yes I’m lighter, yes I’m more energetic, but for me, winning my mental battle with food is going to be the biggest learning curve for me and one that will serve me well long term. Who else is on the #ourpath_health plan? What have you learned?

Enjoyed a little touch of cream back in my coffee this morning as another round of @whole30 is in the books! (In my moon mug of course to celebrate this beautiful worm moon🌝). What an amazing experience, every time. Whole30 is so enlightening on so many levels and my relationship with both food and my body is once again changed forever. A mind-shift, a reset and a clean slate. I lost 8lbs yet I gained so many other other impt health benefits. 🙏 Just like last time, now that the rules are gone I realize that (their removal) was all I wanted, and I end up keeping them anyways. 😉 Proud of these lifestyle changes we have made for our Whole(30) family.
Congrats to my hubby (and fav chef) @lmorra77 on completing his 2nd round too. And to @isaacson.mary for doing her first Whole30- so proud of you and glad you joined us!
Don’t you EVER quit on the goals you have set!! Whatever they are- it doesn’t matter how fast or how slow you go or how many ups and downs you have...KEEP GOING!!!
This past fall I had a goal of completing a half marathon- yep that is me in the pink tutu in this pic, struggling BIG time!! This race was physically and mentally draining but I KEPT GOING and pushed through!!
There will be times in your life when things will come easier for others than it does for you and that is okay (please note the lady in the back just loving life-haha), as long as you keep pushing for your goals and never give up YOU WILL GET THERE, I promise you and the end result will feel AMAZING!! I finished this race and I actually sprinted (as fast as my rubbery legs could move) through the finish line and I was so proud of myself- was it easy? No way look at my face, haha but it was totally worth it!!
Whatever goals you have set for yourself, keep going!! I BELIEVE IN YOU, xo
Day 4! 🤘🏼
Looking frumpy because it’s wet and rainy outside!
I start a brand new job in 3 weeks and I can’t wait for all of the new clothes I’ve bought to come in the mail!
I hope I’ll get to slowly watch myself become too small for them! 👗
