All because I put “me” aside.
Today was special. Today God blessed me with the opportunity to see the fruit of my work with one small interaction.
Firstly, I love the movement Davie County Schools is going in with “Compassionate and Resilient Schools”. I know it can sound like a massive undertaking but here is how it can play out on a small scale.
I’m added in as an extra layer of support for a kiddo because frankly life’s been hard. Paying attention in the classroom is difficult and sometimes anger gets the best of my friend. So today we played “Mad Dragon”. It’s one of my favorite games to play with kids. Think UNO but with anger management questions. Today one of the questions asked “Who’s the happiest person you know?” With a quickness his reply was “you”. In my head I immediately thought “I’m far from the happiest person I know” but I didn’t say that. I said “I’m really happy when I get to spend my time with you.” We kept playing our game and building the kiddos skills.
I fall short daily. This week alone I’ve had a friendship crumble like never before with hurt caused to me and by me despite my efforts and prayers. My family is struggling and my mom has had some extensive care as of late. But each morning I pray and pray specifically for the trials I’m facing and with Gods grace I am able to make each time I have with a kid solely about them. I was able to show up for this kid today. I was able to meet them where they were not at all because of me but because of Christ. Compassionate and Resilient Schools is all about showing up. It’s about modeling compassion and resilience, not just the first.
For the 40 minutes I had this kid he didn’t once see my struggles no he saw the happiest person he knew and now he knows he plays a part in making someone else’s day better. The kids I serve are rockstars.
Sweetness. Seeing your person for the first time the day you are getting married is a magical experience! We here at The Day-Of lovingly fight for you two to have little moments throughout your day to connect, one on one (ok maaayybee a photographer, but that’s it!). Love is why we do what we do, and we can not get enough!! #loveislove🌈 photo credit: @carnefixphotography
I ran out of my polymailers. So I placed an order Monday thinking it would be a week or so to get some. Nope! They came today! Wednesday! Thanks @upaknship for such amazing customer service! Y’all didn’t even know I was freaking out and you still delivered! This time I got peacock feathers and nautical theme (for my growing men customer base) and tape. I heard it was good. Never can have enough tape. 😀 Dont y’all love the peacock feathers!! 😍
Yesterday, 20 March 2019 marked my 12 years of working in this organization... Ups and downs, think and thin, still going strong, even stronger than ever... It has been such an amazing year for me professionally, I’m so blessed! Here are some photos of events to highlight over the year.
And to continue my tradition, I just have to note that the count now is at 12 years, one more name card to a total of 12 name cards, still 3 buildings, still 6 programs... My prayers still remain the same, here is to a better, happier, challenging (in a good way) years to come 🙏🙏🙏 #simplehappiness#ilovemyjob
