I've been trying some different strategies recently to see if I can build/hold onto more size going into this prep.
It's admittedly a little unsettling because I know how my body responds to my typical cutting methodology. I'm hanging around 153 right now which is about 5 lbs. heavier than I normally am at this point. 😳
@raphaelfitness noticed I'd grown a butt recently, so let's hope some of that is muscle! 😜
I'm not doing anything terribly dramatic, but I'm adding in an additional lift/week and changing my rep/set schemes to favor lower reps than I'd been doing, especially in warmup sets.
I've been able to progress my weights and my lifts and joints generally feel good. I also haven't been doing as much walking, etc. as I normally am at this point.
I feel behind, but I'm also getting my period in a few days, so I want to see how things look after that. Lower back and butt fat are always the last to go. I haven't really started to "diet" yet, so there's tons of room to make changes.
One tweak I started today is to delay breakfast. Instead of eating at 6:00 with my husband, aaaaaand then again around 9:30 before the gym, I skipped the first meal since that's when I'm least hungry.
That saves like 400 calories with actually negative effort! Then I'm not trying to white knuckle it through the rest of the day when my appetite is typically higher.
