Same boots. Same blazer. Different day.
From @itsrickmercer to @fordnationdougford it’s been quite a week.
This particular day...gong show.
🔹rush through chores to fit in a shower 🔹finish shower only to have hydro go out 🔹proceed to panic, curse and cry at the mirror. (2 days short of a much needed colour and cut)
🔹so dark out, I don’t attempt to put on makeup... (it’s bad enough with light)
🔹proceed to closet, grab 3/4 of the same outfit I wore 2 days previous. (Because zero effs)
🔹pull over in truck half way there to attempt something with soaking wet hair (fail)
🔹pull up to function only to be warned that I was not only meeting the Ag. Minister, but also the FRIGGIN PREMIER!🤦♀️
🔹once again, sheer panic, a glimpse in my rear view mirror, cursing, and a tiny “oh God no.” 🔹🔹🔹
I’m the last person to give a 💩 about my appearance (note my entire feed😳), but when attending something somewhat professional, I like to feel confident. And often, dressing and looking the part helps me feel less intimidated.
Which leads me to politics.
I am not a politician.
My parents reminded me of this since I was little and got sent out of my classroom because apparently, I have a ‘look’ on my face that betrays my inner annoyance.
So to be politically correct, charming and speak from prepared messaging is REALLY HARD FOR ME.
An hour before I was just a sheep farmer.
In the trenches. Doing the work.
Now, I had a chance to speak on their behalf.
I took this time to thank the leaders at this table.
For working with our small but mighty industry.
For treating us like leaders.
For including us in working groups and collaborations with bigger, more powerful groups and treating us equally.
For helping make our industry more professional, enticing young farmers to take notice and consider as a career.
We may not all approve of political party or agendas...
But, we all have a right to sit at the table and be heard.
Today, I felt like that happened.
And for the rest of the day, I proudly went back to my green toque and filthy coveralls...
And did my job.
A fairy egg or a fart pictured here and in the next few, was most likely from a first time layer.
Apparently there isn't a reason for it, it just can happen.
Comment📜👇 below if you ever had a fairy egg produced from your flock or what you think of it! -
Excuse the filthy eggs in the first picture, I have been struggling with the hens breaking there eggs or scratching out the materials in the nesting box and then cracking their eggs. Anyone have any remedies for such actions?
Check out the other pictures to see the size of the fart next to a chicken egg and on a ruler for actual size. It is probably close to the size of a finch egg.
