Celebrated the first day of spring by making some cutie patootie new planters to add to my collection 🥰 I also ate ice cream sandwiches which really feels like more of a first day of summer thing but I did it anyway because I make my own rules 🍦🤓
My delicate little Olivia came home today limping and covered in bandaids from a recess injury today and my darling Colette is keeping me company at home this week because she got pinkeye from someone at preschool. I LOVE painting and working from home so I can be there for them when they need their mama to take care of them. my fingers probably appreciate a break from the tiny brushwork too! 🦋🖌
Today, I launched into more commission work and new collection pieces on the side. Just wanted to share the magic with you. Excited and motivated to make this next collection EPIC. I have a charity event coming up on the 3rd of May and we are donating a chunk of the profits from painting sales to the Good Friday Appeal.
The event is only in early stages but if you can visit my facebook page "Nicky Kriss Art" and show your interest in attending I would be so grateful. Art, music and a great cause.
You can find the event on Facebook by following this link : https://www.facebook.com/events/387262725186487/?ti=as
“The Key to Better Living” is Alair Homes Oh the treasures you find in the basement of a 1920’s River Heights house! This giant chest freezer would be a permanent fixture but luckily the excavator should make quick work of that! 🚜 Soon to be an infill🏡
Taking inspiration from the unsung heroes of my studio: the little leftover thread bits. I know other artists will relate to the weird need to keep random objects around “just in case” they can be used for a project. I’ve been saving the trimmings of my embroidery thread for years (super weird, I know), but I love how they look sprinkled all over my art table so I decided to draw these little forms and imitate them on the canvas.
What are you saving “just in case” in your studio or home??
This beautiful Afghan Prayer rug was handwoven using 100% natural wool. The traditional color palette is just lovely and the detailed geometric patterns on this rug will bring an ethnic and authentic touch to your interior. It measures 4’ 3” x 2’ 9” and was just listed in the shop!

✨ I’ve placed my crystals in the windowsills of our apartment in anticipation of tonight’s moon. Our rooms will smell like white sage in a few hours, and I will run a pen across the pages of my journal for a little while before bed. ✨
In the whirlwind of preparation for this weekend’s gem show in Vancouver, I choose tonight to be still and grateful. Happy full moon everyone! What are your rituals? I’d love to know!! 💕🌷 ✨
P.S. how epic is this illustration by @edey_?! I’d have a salt bath too buuuut I really don’t want to clean the tub. 😂 #reality

That’s a misconception that home owners have, based on untrue data that floats around. -

I’m currently trying to make my own master bedroom a place that I love to be in (it’s been last on my priority list for my 14 years of marriage) and this one from our #dcranchproject is all sorts of cozy 😍 I love the blush love seat at the end of the bed 💕 @aft_construction@thisisnickaz

If you’ve followed along with me for a while, you’ll know that my love for vintage rugs runs deep. The Mill has evolved over the past few years, but vintage rugs are one component that has remained a core element of my designs. Because I believe every space should be graced with these beauties, we’re launching our collection online!

Kind of my romantic spring take on a mantle. I swapped the plant basket out for a Pottery one and a pop of fuchsia florals. ✨✨✨ Lots of hygge going on.
When a room doesn't have a natural focal point - we make one! Here, I selected a piece of oversized artwork to act as the focal wall. Anchored by a favorite console table, it gives you somewhere to focus your attention without distracting from good conversation.
